Jacques Greene (Night Slugs / LuckyMe)
Jam City (Night Slugs)
Warm return to Plastic People once again and welcome Jacques Greene (Night Slugs / LuckyMe) in what will be the only London appearance of his UK tour!! Joining him will be Jam City (Night Slugs)
With only two releases to his name Jacques Greene is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the most talented young producers to emerge in the last few years. Hailing from Canada, his contribution to last years Night Slugs Allstars compilation - (Baby I Don't Know) What You Want - was featured in every end-of-year list that matters, and his most recent release on Glasgow's LuckyMe label has cemented his place as a producer to watch in 2011. Drawing inspiration from House music's rich heritage Jacques assimilates his love of Garage, hip-hop and everything in between to create some of the most compelling music around at the moment.
In the past 12 months there has barely been a single music commentator who hasn't extolled the brillaince of Jack Latham AKA Jam City. He has played a crucial role in the ascent of Night Slugs to its rightful place as one of the best dance labels going at the moment. His FACT mix in late 2009 - http://www.factmag.com/2009/10/19/fact-mix-93-jam-city/ - quickly marked him out as one to watch and he has gone on to justify the (considerable) hype with two fantastic releases on Night Slugs. To quote Boomkat: "'Ecstacy Refix' is just one of those anthemic wonders that defies easy categorisation, employing distinctive Grime signatures but with an almost euphoric color palette that takes in rave stabs and distant percussive hits, proper hands-in-the-air styles for peaktime summer jams". We can't put it much better than that.
