Three. It’s the magic number. So ‘they’ say, anyway. How we’ve managed to stagger through three years of parties is quite frankly beyond us. There has been sweat, tears and one or two Red Stripes spilt along the way but we are still here and we’re stronger than ever. So for our third birthday we are really pushing the boat out. We have invited two very special guest acts and we have all the Polaroid family on board to help us celebrate too. We’ll be transforming Wire and there will be one or two little surprises on the night....
Bobby M and Kevin Griffith’s ISSST is without doubt one of the best things to happen to the London club scene for years. Originally starting out as Tiefshwarz’ only UK residency in 2005 at the Key, the night was respectfully handed down to Bobby and Kevin and has since morphed into one of the most talked about and hedonistic parties the capital has to offer. The likes of Digitalism and Alan Braxe actually requested to make their UK debuts at ISSST and their 2006 warehouse party has already passed into legend and spawned the Kult of Issst, a series of secret warehouse parties so far showcasing high quality European talent like Fuckpony, Trevor Jackson and Franz & Shape. Bobby and Kevin have hosted ISSST parties at some of Europe’s top clubs including Fabric, Weekend in Berlin as well as in Paris, Copenhagen and Australia. Last year the pair mixed the award winning compilation ‘This is Issst’, drawing praise from originators Tiefshwarz who said “It’s got that Berlin vibe – dark but chic’’ and Pete Tong who said "A futuristic, moody electro jam that blends Detroit and Chicago influences. A benchmark!" We honestly couldn’t think of anyone better than ISSST to help us celebrate three years of Polaroid with.
Since releasing their critically acclaimed debut album ‘We Are Not The Infadels’ in 2006, these boys have secured themselves at the top of the current pile of indie/dance crossover bands with their electronically charged rock ‘n’ roll hybrid. Last year's hit singles 'Love Like Semtex' and 'Can't Get Enough' became the soundtrack to the summer for many. Signed to Wall of Sound which houses other electronic music heavyweights like Royksopp and Jacques Lu Cont, Infadels have took their merry band of pranksters and ravers around the world and are now back on Planet Infadel writing their second eagerly anticipated album. Firmly entrenched to the acid house cause, Infadels have been rocking live venue’s and clubs alike with their riotous mix of electro, rock and disco way before the words ‘new’ and ‘rave’ had ever been uttered together. It seems de rigueur for bands these days to DJ on the side; yet way before the Infadels first picked up their guitars and keyboards the boys were getting behind the decks in sweaty underground clubs so they certainly know how to rock a party. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you Infadels…
BROKEN HOOKER DEEJAYS//
Since signing up to become the new bi-monthly Polaroid residents at the start of the year, things have been moving at breakneck speed for the Hookers. They have launched there own digital radio show which has secured some of the best names in electronic music for guest mixes, taken in bookings as far away as South Africa and Brazil and they quite literally have some of the best clubs in the country queuing up to book them. Quite frankly we are honoured to have their astronomical talent on board. These boys are going far.
