Pulse London, Lock N Load Events
On Friday 18th March 2011, Pulse makes its greatly anticipated mark on London’s club scene by opening its doors for the very first time. The largest and most centrally located nightclub in the city, Pulse is about teasing the senses to a new level, whilst giving its visitors a raw and underground musical experience. Fitted with a Void soundsystem, similar to that of DC10 in Ibiza, not to mention state of the art lighting, Pulse is ready to introduce itself as one of the best nightclubs that the capital has to offer. For the Grand Opening of Pulse we have curated a lineup headlined by one of the world’s greatest ever DJs in his first London club show in almost a year! Ladies and Gentleman we give you Mr Erick Morillo...

A truly legendary figure in the evolution of house music, Erick Morillo makes his greatly anticipated return to London on Friday 18th March to continue his continued love affair with the Capital. Having consistently sold out London’s leading venues over the past fifteen years, Erick’s only confirmed London show of 2011 is an extra special one as he brings his massive Pacha Ibiza club night ‘Voodoo Nights’ to the UK for the very first time! 2011 has seen a manic start for Erick as he recently opened the marvellous Marquee Nightclub in Las Vegas on New Years Eve followed by an extensive tour of South America. With a fourteenth season at Pacha Ibiza in the pipeline he is once again racking up the air miles as he spreads his trademark house sound across the globe. Erick is currently busy in the studio working on his debut artist album and work continues with Subliminal Records cohorts Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero and Jose Nunez to produce dancefloor music bombs that are set to rule your summer. Work is also underway on the follow up to his 2010 smash hit ‘Live Your Life’ and this year will also see the return of the inflential Bambossa and Subusa labels as a part of the Subliminal family. It’s all go for Erick Morillo.

Joining Erick as very special guest on the night will be John Dahlback. In an exclusive appearance outside of his Mutants night at Ministry of Sound, John is further testament to the theory that there could indeed be something in Sweden’s water when it comes to electronic music. Undoubtedly one of the world’s finest house prodigies, Dahlback landed his first record deal aged just 15 and in the ten years since has released tracks on some of the most respected labels around the globe including Turbo, Defected, Joia, Silverplanet, Underwater, Systematic and Brique Rouge. With a unique unique sound and style that incorporates pure house through to electro, techno and progressive, John is soon to drop his latest production on Subliminal records, making him the perfect candidate to join Erick when Pulse opens its door this March. In addition to Erick and John we’ve got plenty more to throw your way. Warming up in the main room will be the sensational Carl Kennedy. Carl tours regularly throughout every continent across the globe in addition to producing for every major independent record label including Subliminal, Toolroom, Cr2, Pacha Recordings and Roger Sanchez’s prestigious Stealth imprint. Carl maintains a distinctive style all of his own, whilst his sixth-sense for what makes dancefloors tick hits the sonic sweet spot time and time again.

In the second arch we showcase the finest in house, electro and disco. Belgian trio Villa draw inspiration from groundbreaking turntable eclectisism but also credit their roots in the town of Ghent as a driving creative force. Coming from a town that produced acts such as 2manydjs and The Glimmers, Villa have produced a string of tasty edits and remixes for the likes of Ali Love, Moby and Digitalism. Turbo Records’ boss Tiga spotted Matt Walsh after he began to develop his trademark sound of modern disco-infused electronic house and techno, through his residency at East London's seminal T-Bar club. He has since toured the world, not only with Turbo, but as a long term resident of Bugged Out, and can sit as comfortably in a peak time rave as he can in an extended build or delving late into the night. Dan Beaumont is one of the founding members of the Disco Bloodbath collective. He has remixed the likes of Franz Ferdinand, The Aliens, Little Boots and Monarchy and is known for spinning a heady mix of vintage house, Italo rareties, vocal disco and the best new music he can find. Bicep hail from Belfast, brought together through a common obsession with all things analog. Their love for cutting-edge and hard-to-find disco, Chicago-house, Detroit techno and Italo, along with a love of jazz, rock and funk, have helped Bicep build an extensive fan base and has resulted in a busy worldwide tour schedule. The lineup for the second arch will be completed by the winner of the DJ competition currently being hosted on www.mixcloud.com and a very special guest to be announced.

Wed, 23 Mar 2011MAJOR ISSUES.. Wow what an anti climax. Was so looking forward to this event, Morillo back in the UK, what more could you ask for. OK Morillo smashed it, such a livley DJ who clearly loves performing but what a shame the club let him down..! To say it was ramo is an understatement, you could not move let alone dance and im talking about the whole club not just the main room, way over capacity!!! The crowd was poor, too many little kids runnining about who wouldnt know a good tune if it bent... More

Tue, 22 Mar 2011'Teething problems' (as some people are saying) for new clubs, in my eyes, are things like...running out of ice or a certain type of drink...

Not paddling around in other peoples shit, being covered in dirt and grime, scalding hot water from the taps, no air conn, etc, etc... as people are reporting.

Sounds like the place wasn't fully ready, tried and tested and it was all a bit rushed.

Really hope they do manage to sort the obvious problems out before running too many more nights.

Tue, 22 Mar 2011I agree with Melvo. Queued for an hour. Had to wear coat as couldn't find cloakroom and when did, another massive queue. Toilets flooded, blocked and toilet leakage (if you see what I mean) on the floors. Queues to the blocked toilets! Main room absolutely rammed. Smoking area only accessible through the main room, with sweat dripping from the ceiling! Once outside we were kept out like cattle, then everyone became impatient and the ramming began! Far too big a venue, treated like... More

Tue, 22 Mar 2011POOR POOR POOR!! so disappointed with Pulse on friday. they made people queue for an hour & a half to get in even with tickets, there was a problem with the plumbing and there was an inch of water throughout the club, EVERYONES shoes were destroyed, long queues for drinks, NO WHERE to sit to take a few minutes out, sweat dripping from the ceilings at a ridiculous amount. no vibe in room 2 at all. Thank god for Morillo!! What works in Ibiza doesnt work in London, huge arenas with high ceilings... More

Sun, 20 Mar 2011Apparently the sound is very good. Room Two is about the size of Fabric but the main far too mahoosive. Will check it out in due course, not for £30 though!
