Line-up /JE:5, Nanobot - Markutz - Signal Jammer - The Presence
NONOM kick off 2011 in style with our first event in some time, upstairs at the Klass A bar on Fore Street in Exeter.
The usual suspects Nanobot, Markutz, Signal Jammer and The Presence will be joined by special guest Jesse Hall a.k.a. JE:5.
JE:5 has been Djing since 1995, ever since joining a collective of like minded techno heads known as BWPT. He has played all across the UK and in Spain, Czech republic, Hungary and Germany inc...luding taking in the world renowned underground techno club Tresor, in Berlin.
JE:5 emerged from the underground free party scene in the mid 90's and immediately took to the fresh and interesting techno coming out at the time from the likes of Neil Landstrumm, Cristian Vogel, Tobias Schmidt and DBX and this has always been a constant throughout his career as a DJ. He has also played alongside some well respected techno artists such as Michael Forshaw, Mark Hawkins, Jon Nuccle and Mark EG.
Along with the Djing he has been producing his own music since 1996 under the same moniker and has played live sets using his hardware only setup since 1997, performing at underground techno nights such as Ugly Funk and Pure Filth to great acclaim. His production has lead to some vinyl releases, the first being on U.S. based label Deluxe Curl ran by Josh Herrala, released in 2003. The next release was a remix of a track called 'Dumb' by Michael Forshaw on his own label Chan'n'Mikes in 2005, closely followed by another remix of a track called Bassmunter, released on the free web label Hippocamp by Kams.
2010 saw the release of a collaboration with long time associate and techno producer Mark Hawkins on the Snork sub label Relax 2000 and a track on a compilation EP on the Kitty Corner sublabel Slidebar, entitled Ham Fisted Funk. A new live set is currently in the works and more releases are being written including more material with Mark Hawkins.
As usual Nanobot, Signal jammer, The Presence, & Markutz will being keeping the sounds rolling with a selection of the best new, old, and no skool underground electronics, as ever furthering our policy of No Nonsense Music, and ably assisted by Exeter noise-mongers Neighbourhood Sound.
9pm-2.30am, just 3 squids on the door.
