This month for Deathstar I'm stoked to welcome 2 special guests to the decks.

First is Matt G of Horror Hotel productions and Tokyo Fist. I met Matt one night goofing off with Reade Truth of Sonic Groove records. Immediately after mentioning Deathstar, Reade enthusiastically shoved me in Matt's direction. Once we started talking tunes, heavy metal tunes, while grooving to techno, figured should have him play.

Peter Jay is a friend of mine since the days of BAKTUN, a superstar audio engineer in these parts, producer, dj, promoter, visual artist. Basically a real renaissance dude, an excellent person, and a stand up guy. His history with, and relevance to NY's electronic scene is extensive. Most recently he's made thursday's @ Stay a reason to blow off work friday, and National Underground a safe haven for techno geeks in Manhattan. He refers to his audio gear as his children, I've been floored hearing him drop teshno, and mesmerized by visual installations by him. Thus, super curious to hear what he's going to bring to the tables. The heavy metal dance party turntables.

As with every Deathstar, Electronica DJ's and Producers bring their metal, industrial, and punk record collections out in public. In 20 years of clubbing, and concurrent interest in metal, I've found tons of techno people who also are fond of power chords, and double bass drums. Especially DJ Producer types.

This is a free party, it's casual, and fun. The sound system is legit, there's cheap booze, and pool tables set away from the dancefloor, for some friendly competition. The bar's owner was a resident dj for Limelight and the Tunnel in the early 90's, so he gets it, and has made it a good place to hang out. Blocks from the L train on Grand St. in Eastern Willy'sburg.

Word,

Dave Conehead
