Regretfully we have to cancel this weekend's edition of the Mister. The visa application of our guest, Todd Terje, was unusually delayed and won't be processed in time for him to travel this weekend. We wouldn't ordinarily cancel a night because a guest couldn't appear, as it's all about the party and not any one DJ, but on this occasion with Mister Carter in Europe and the huge anticipation around Todd Terje's appearance, we feel it makes most sense. We're in the process for finalizing another date for later in the year for Terje to return so keep an eye out for that.
If you purchased an advance ticket, you can contact Resident Advisor for a refund (see their post in the comments section). Otherwise, we'll see you in a few weeks when Justin returns to play alongside Eamon, Caribou and Joy Orbison. Tickets for those are right here on RA.
Lots of love,
Mister Saturday Night
The thaw begins. We hope. Mister Saturday Night is doing everything he can to heat things up at least. To start the month of March, we've got a special doubleheader of Saturdays at 12-turn-13, the brightest spot of sunshine in all of Brooklyn.
Eamon, who briefly reunited with Justin in Europe for some amazing gigs at Plastic People in London and Optimo's new party in Glasgow, returns to solo resident duties for these editions of the Mister; and while it's always great to get Justin and Eamon back to back, to hear Eamon stretch out for hours at a time is a rare treat. His steady, chugging sets tell long stories, with every page more interesting than the last.
He'll be doing his storytelling alongside a couple heavy-hitting masters of the disco edit – Todd Terje and Greg Wilson. Greg isn't just a former resident of the Hacienda and the first DJ ever to spin on national TV, he also holds the distinct honor of being the last guest we ever hosted at Mister Saturday Night's live-in at Market Hotel. Just like he did then, he'll be bringing along his reel to reels, adding the sounds of warm tape to reworks of Stevie Wonder, The Beatles and, of course, folks you've never heard of.
Terje hasn't played in New York in years, not since before Mister Saturday Night was a glimmer in our eyes. Shame, too, considering his barefoot DJ sets (he feels more comfy without his shoes on) are some of the most fun the world has to offer, and we're not speaking hyperbolically here. He, like Greg, is a master of the edit, and everyone from Michael Jackson to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young has been under his knife.
What else should you know? Well, both parties will host an open beer bar from 10pm to 11pm, and both will probably fill up, as 12-turn-13 isn't as big as our home-base on Scholes. Advance tickets are highly, highly recommended. Don't fear the commitment. It's always a great time.
