To be a globetrotting Dj you've got to have more than luck on your side as our next guest at Audio Farm can testify. The spotlight swung in Yousef's direction after winning Muzik Magazine's Bedroom Bedlam competition back in 1998. His hazy mix of summer grooves & acidic licks stole the show & had the heads of the nation nodding when his mix was played live on Radio 1. A decade later & more times round the globe than the mere space station, Yousef's ability & acumen have carved him an awe inspiring music career.
He has a glittering array of remix credits under his belt, for the likes of X-Press-2, Fatboy Slim & Moby. In 2008, with the help of Carl Cox, he smashed clubland apart with I Want You & last year saw his debut release on the mighty Cocoon, with the stormer Come Home.
Last year also saw his first artist album A Collection of Scars & Situations, which was released on his own imprint Circus Recordings. Circus is synonymous with his name, and he raises the roof every time at one of the farm folk's favourite haunts. The night in his home town of Liverpool, has hosted the greatest names in house & techno, from Ricardo Villalobos & Carl Cox to Sven Vath & Carl Craig.
Yousef's intuitive knowledge of dance floor incendiaries makes him the perfect guest for what is our last Manchester party until June, but with all 3 rooms of The Deaf Institute open to the farming fun & frolics, its sure to be a night of monumental mischief and musical mayhem that weve become so accustomed to.
Don't think because we're not in Manchester until June that all well be doing is ploughing the fields & tending to the sheep. We've got a fair few parties & events up our tweed sleeves, but until then, be sure to sharpen your best round house and square dance skills until next time
