As I Like It: Jeremy's Birthday Celebration
March 4, 2011
San Francisco
$5 pre-sales/ $10 at the door
And now onto a line-up that blends my tastes across the board, with some of my favorite people and good friends. I'm honored to bring Drumcell up from Los Angeles' Droid Behavior crew, an artist I've respected for years and have wanted to perform for me back for his first performance in San Francisco in over a year, after a year of performing at festivals, clubs and warehouses around the world. The range of our AYLI residents is becoming a source of regular party-banter and Rich Korach's been demonstrating that his entire DJ career, but beyond his technical skills on the decks, Rich has become a great and supportive friend. A dance-floor regular turned DJ extraordinaire, atish is more on the most analytical "heads" in the scene. Simply put, he gets it. His crew, house-heads, have brought great talent and now that atish is performing at international electronic music festivals there's really no holding him back. This last year has found me seeking out his opinion on numerous occasions, appreciating his burgeoning sound and dancing next to him in Detroit. I'm honored to have atish get our night started. Mossmoss is the glue that holds every AYLI party together. Whether he's opening the night, closing out, playing before or after the head-liners, Mossmoss reach is unparalleled. Simply put, he's a chameleon, that frees up our ability to program our out-out town guests at any hour. After meeting Mattie on the dance-floor, we clicked right away. One of the biggest hearts in the scene. You'll never find a person that has a bad word to say about him. More often than not, you'll meet members of the Mossmoss fan club at the most obscure places. After all, "Mossmoss is famous." Closing out the night is Mike Perry, a one-time fixture of the Detroit underground and now a connoisseur of both chill and deeper shades of house and techno. His sets as Fedora, along with his partner Matt Wilder, push deep house, but alone, you never can be quite sure what he'll deliver. With this many years behind the decks and on the dance-floor, you know it'll be quality. Always open to lend a hand and word of advice (even unwanted ones), you're guaranteed to get the straight truth. This is why I hold his friendship dear.
Thanks to all five of them for agreeing to play.
9:00-10:15 Michael Perry (Fedora, White Label)
10:15-11:30 atish (house-heads, tutu tuesday)
11:30-12:45 Rich Korach (As You Like It, Paxahau)
12:45-2:00 Mossmoss (As You Like It, Nightlight Music, RCP)
2:00-3:30 Drumcell (Droid Behavior, CLR) LA
We're giving back to all of you who have supported us over the last year with a QUALITY night for only $5 presales - in celebration of my birthday.
Please grab your pre-sale ticket. If we do reach occupancy via pre-sales we will not be allowing anymore people inside. There is a show upstairs and we will be using the full downstairs. Let's fill this place up and rock out to some of my favorite people and DJs.
Thank you and I can't wait to celebrate with all of you.
Much love and thank you for the support over the last couple years.
- Jeremy
