This week we look forward to bringing you, as usual, the best that New York has to offer... Having had a very intimate night with Jeff Scott a fortnight ago, we now bring in another heavy hitter in the name of Karraskilla!!
Juan Karraskilla never imagined he would be riding into the techno scene as he hit the 3rd decade of his life. With his dorky soul and charm for music deriving from pure teenage love for the electric guitar and bass, he had to leave his home in Colombia and move to New York in 2000 to satiate his music career.
The thick shadows of his past ventures in rock, funk and latin jazz nonetheless fuel into his techy sound with appetizing melodic groove and tough electro bass lines always promising a danceable sound for the crowd.
In 2008, he became co-founder of Biatch Corp Recordings label with Alvaro Bueno AKA Pito and released his first EP entitled "Su Merced El Pimp". Juan is currently completing his next releases and continuing many projects in the works as a techno producer.
(Sheik 'n' Beik)
Varick O’Dea was introduced to the varied and eclectic musical styles of New York while growing up in the city. Toying with different genres, Varick slowly but surely found his rhythm during his time at Eightball Records, where he began mingling in the music industry. Finding the sound that suited him best was the easy part, the difficult part was finding a way to express it. After a gig at Sheik 'n' Beik's weekly rendez-vous at Kush lounge back in 2008 Varick became an instant resident. To this day you will still experience painful soles and blistering heels as Varick applies his blend of minimal infused techno, whether it be at dingy warehouses or sunny rooftops. As Varick steadily progresses, he keeps busy producing tunes for upcoming releases.
Lets make this one count!!
