On March 11 at 2:46pm JST a massive 9.0-magnitude earthquake occurred near the northeastern coast of Japan, creating extremely destructive tsunami waves which hit Japan just minutes after the earthquake, triggering evacuations and warnings across the Pacific Ocean. The earthquake and tsunami have caused extensive and severe damage in Northeastern Japan, leaving thousands of people confirmed dead, injured or missing, and millions more affected by lack of electricity, water and transportation. As an added cause for serious concern, Japan is now battling safety issues and severe radiation as a result of damage to its nuclear power infrastructure.
The survivors in Japan will need support for years to come and now is the time to take action. Caroline Shaheed of OfTheNow.ca and Marc de Breyne of PawnShopRecords.com have banded together with a fantastic team to show Japan that we care.
The evening will also feature a food stand from Caplansky's Smoked Meats, a raffle and silent auction with more than 50 different items up for bid such as Raptors vs Heat Tickets, gift baskets, concert tickets, jewelry, dinner gift cards, clothing, artwork and much more. Auction items will be available to take home that night, and are payable by cash or credit card. The auction ends at midnight and winners will be announced immediately after.
