Animals Dancing and Melbourne Deepast, present Move D(Source, Running Back, Philpot) at The Mercat Basement on the 15th of April.
David Moufang, AKA Move D grew up in a Heidelberg far, far away from Ivanhoe.
Being a space crazy child with a highly musical family, it isn’t surprising that the sounds of Detroit and early techno appealed to David upon first experiencing them in German clubs in the late eighties.
Moufang began releasing music in the early nineties and helped start and maintain Source Records with his Deep Space Network collaborator Jonas Grossmann, which ran from 1992 until 2005. Move D has released music for Warp, Underground Quality, Compost, liebe*detail, Philpot, Running Back, Fifth Freedom and more
Ranging from subtle, Detroit-inflected grooves, to wired electronic jazz, Moufang's music is rooted in the tradition of Larry Heard, Carl Craig and Nu Groove’s Burrell Brothers. The wildly innovative Kunststoff, released in 1995, remains one of the most accomplished techno albums to emerge from Europe thus far.
An accomplished live performer, Move D is also a fantastic DJ whom Animals Dancing and Melbourne Deepcast are thrilled to bring to you for 3+ hours of selecting down in the Mercat Basement
