about Kevin Knapp:
Kevin Knapp just kicks it, plain and simple. A student of music, Kevin is influenced by a diverse musical background ranging from underground Hip-Hop and Jazz to Classical and Indie Rock, Kevin tends to draw from his substantial musical rearing when massaging dance floors to life.
As a widely respected figure in San Francisco’s dance music community, Kevin’s release of Real Talk on murmur last year with the duo of Matt Tolfrey (Leftroom, Get Physical) and Inxec (Cocoon) catapulted him to the next tier of dance music prominence, and reawakened forms of musical expression in him in vocal form. Kevin’s vox are in high demand these days and this year some of his solo and collaborative projects will see release on Leftroom Limited and Hello?Repeat. Forthcoming projects with Kate Simko, Audiojack, and Sean Miller have kept Kevin busy as of late, and he continues to find ways to incorporate his unique vocal perspective into projects that really move him and the people who hear them.
In addition to writing vox & producing, Kevin continues to gig regularly all over the California and beyond. Kevin also has brought a unique performance aspect to the DJ medium by incorporating live vocal performance into his shows. Having played alongside Claude VonStroke, Matt Tolfrey, Inxec, Lee Curtiss, Audiojack, Bill Patrick, Lee Burridge, Kotou and Worthy just to name a few, Kevin is no stranger to blending in with the world’s best, when party time commences.
With several podcasts, radio appearances, and countless live performances under his belt across the globe, be sure and catch this kid when he’s in your town because Mr. Knapp’s surly gorilla bass lines are infectious.
See you on Friday!
