Holic with Daniel Bell photo gallery
Wow, the last party was a big one wasn't it? We have to say a special thank you to Jimpster and Agaric who both put in stellar sets. For this party we return to our familiar stomping ground Cafe 1001 on Brick Lane, with a headline guest that we are thrilled to showcase; Daniel Bell. The last time Daniel was in the capital last S...ummer he wowed a sell-out crowd at secretsundaze, now we are lucky enough to have him at HOLIC for an exclusive 3 hour set. To say we are excited is an understatement!
Our other special guest in June is DJ PI-GE from Tokyo. The founder of Japan's answer to Resident Advisor, clubberia, PI-GE is no stranger to the full realms of electronic music. Presently on a European tour including dates at meccas of dance music Panorama Bar and Robert-Johnson, he is flying to London especially for our night. Catch him at Holic before he flies back to Tokyo!
As usual, the first record is cued up at just before midnight and we go on until 10am. Serious dancefloor action!!

Daniel Bell is an American minimal techno DJ. He was born in Sacramento, California, but grew up outside of Toronto, Canada, and later moved to Detroit where he collaborated with Richie Hawtin as Cybersonik for three years on Plus 8 records. In 1991, he started his own label, Accelerate, where he released a string of influential releases as DBX.
Bell was influenced primarily by Chicago House as well as the works of Steve Reich and Philip Glass. His productions are characterized by minimalist house grooves accented by blips and bleeps. Some tracks also feature bizarre voice effects and eerie atmospherics such as 1994’s delay driven “Losing Control”.
Bell moved behind the scenes to set up 7th City Distribution in November 1994. Smaller U.S.-based techno and house labels required distribution overseas and domestically and 7th City moved in to fill this void. However by 1998, the number of active, independent techno labels in the U.S. dropped significantly and Bell closed the distribution company. In 2000, he relocated to Berlin, Germany, and released his first mix CD, The Button-Down Mind of Daniel Bell, on Tresor Records. 2003 brought a follow-up release on Logistic records, The Button-Down Mind Strikes Back and soon after a retrospective was released: Blip, Blurp, Bleep: The Music of Daniel Bell.
Pi-Ge began his career in 1997 at Osaka- Japan as a DJ . In 2006, he kick started the resident party "Organza" at Colors Studio and Womb Tokyo and orchestrated a new movement within the Techno/House music scene of Japan. His unique blend of old and new House grooves, minimal Techno deepness. He started to work new label"panrecords"with Ryo Murakami. and He and Mathias Kaden project "Mathimidori and PI-GE" released 1st Ep from Raum...Musik.
