More info on a few of our artists:

Kid Koala
www.kidkoala.com
The Montreal based DJ and turntablist signed to the British record label, Ninja Tune is headlining Friday nights festivities. Accomplished on his own and considered by many to be one of the worlds best turntablists, he is also a member of the jam band Bullfrog, alternative hip hop supergroup Deltron 3030, and The Slew with the former rhythm section of Grammy Award-winning Australian rock band Wolfmother. He has also made appearances with many other artists from Amon Tobin to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and has made contributions to Lovage, Peeping Tom, Gorillaz, and numerous other projects. In 2000, Ninja Tune released Kid Koala’s debut album “Carpal Tunnel Syndrome” which received international praise by the press for having defied expectation. The album featured a video game and a 32-page comic illustrated by Kid Koala himself. Following the release of the album Kid Koala toured extensively in North America and Europe opening up for some of his favorite artists including Radiohead and Bjork. In late 2010, Kid Koala finished his latest graphic novel and soundtrack titled “Space Cadet”. The novel and soundtrack are set to be released during 2011 through Pigeon Press.

Poirier & MC Zulu
www.poiriersound.com & www.mczulu.com
Drawing from a wide range of tropical riddims and urban electro, the power of Montreal-based DJ/producer Poirier’s bass blasts through any flimsy attempt to classify his music. Pinpointing the bits and pieces of dancehall beats, soca energy and electronic intensity is futile in the face of Poirier’s dance-driven creativity and air horn-worthy excitement. Signed to Ninja Tune, this is a man who just understands what works in the dance. Poirier is constantly evolving. Landscapes of vibrant drums lead to pulsating, pitch-shifting, and infectious bass and synth patterns. He tears through new genres constantly, leaving a trail of packed, chaotic dancefloors in his wake.

MC Zulu has achieved worldwide acclaim for his off-brand variety of Electro-driven Reggae, MC Zulu continues to push the sonic envelope. He deliberately chooses rhythms with a worldly, yet uncategorizable feel to them as the backdrop for his rapid fire, randomized cadence. MC Zulu's appeal however goes further than his choice of tracks. While many of his Dancehall contemporaries, finding themselves in unfamiliar musical territory, adhere to a more classic Reggae songwriting style, Zulu enthusiastically breaks rules. He routinely channels a variety of artists which have nothing to do with Dancehall to create his intriguing sound. It is said that he developed such lyrical precision early on, during his collaborations with Hip-Hop greats such as Aceyalone and Kool Keith.

Dustin Zahn
www.myspace.com/dustinzahn
American techno champion, Dustin Zahn, has released records on some of technos biggest hitters, including Rekids, Drumcode, Mindshake, as well as his own successful US techno label, Enemy Records. His tracks have been played by some of the worlds biggest DJ's including Carl Cox, James Zabiela, Sasha & Digweed, Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, and many more. As an internationally touring DJ his sets ride the fine lines of house and techno in the truest sense being moody, tribal, dark, hypnotic, and packed with energy. It's the perfect soundtrack for the youth gone wild.

Wook
www.facebook.com/wookband
Ushering in a new era of jam band, Wook has drawn on influences from all genres. A mix of jam, progressive rock, singer songwriter roots, and electronic instrumentation, the group creates a sound that is ever changing. This youthful approach to music is mirrored by the youthfulness of the band. In their early twenties, the band seeks to grow musically together through the progression of their music. Their fresh take on instrumentation, song composition, and life inspires audiences and fans to join in the party and share in the music. As much immersed in the jam community as fans, the group continuously works to build the community and support live music. Stressing a fun and inclusive atmosphere, Wook shows have grown to become a must-attend party. As the group continues on their musical path, it is clear their music will constantly evolve.
