After 2 huge collaborative events, one with Drumclinic, where we were oh so lucky to be joined by the mighty Hit&Run and Now Wave, and the other, fusing up with Micron, we've decided to go back to basics and bring to you a line up that we feel represents best what Manchester's bass music scene is about.
Presenting. . .
FANTASTIC MR FOX [black acre/hemlock]
SYNRKO [mindset/smoking sessions/autonomic]
DFRNT [echo dub/on the edge]
We could call this, I don’t know, a Problem Child after party, or a Parklife warm-up party, but, well, its not, so we won’t . . .we'll stick to our shit and call it SELECTIVE HEARING.
Joining our beautiful residents will be 3 very special, very different guests...drum roll please...
FANTASTIC MR FOX
Arguably one of the most talented producers to emerge from the city Daedelus says ‘has the best music scene in the U.K’. Originally from Wolverhampton, Stephen Gomberg has been making music since he was 14 years old, but only has it been in recent years that his sound has become so distinctive and recognizable. In his early years he remixed work for acts such as Maps, Untold and Polar Bear, and in 2009 Mr. Fox started to release his own unique sounding material on inprints such as Black Acre and Hemlock. Gaining support from artists as varied as Martyn, The XX, Bjork and Mount Kimbie. He was also recently voted The Guardians 1000th ‘’band of the day’, to say he isn’t even a band. . . that’s pretty good going? So yeah, we welcome to you, Fantastic Mr Fox, be prepared for something mental, radio fucking rental.
Another Manchester stalwart, Synkro aka Joe McBride has been behind much of the cities serge to the forefront of the U.Ks bass scene. His music came out of his love for garage, and listening to his beats today, you can certainly sense the journey they take, from the snaring 2-step beats to the echoed vocals that are so enamoured with his productions. Since his early days making dub step and garage in his bedroom, he has always been exploring new realms of electronic music, and years down the line its paid off, with numerous releases on Exit records and Smoking Sessions. He also helps run the label, Mindset with fellow Mancunian beat smith Indigo. The diversity of Synkros sound can be heard in every different tune he puts out, and everyone he doesn’t. Constantly pushing boundaries, be it with his minimal half time dnb on Autonomic, or his exuberant deep dubstep with Mindset. He is the future, the past and the mother-fucking present.

Recently, attention has switched to Scotland, as a mixing pot of new and innovative music, from producers such as the Lucky Me crew which includes Rustie and Hudson Mohawke and other names like Jackmaster, Rudi Zygadlo and Koreless all carving their own unique and diverse sounds in the scene.
And now a new name is bringing his sound to the all ready thriving Scottish sound-scape. DFRNT, Edinburgh based Alex Cowles, dj, designer, label head and writer, a man of many talents, merges deep synthy sounds and minimal drums to create a soft palette of dub-techno infused bass electronica, mixing his styles with every track to create something truly unique. Having played to audiences across the globe, including Puerto Rico, NYC and Baltimore, we are extremely privileged to have him join us in the sweat den basement of Joshua Brooks, at the last Selective Hearing before the so-called summer arrives.
Joining our residents we have 3 more special guests, DOM HZ in a three way b2b2b, featuring the vocals of HELEN K. And a Manchester debut for SURELY BASSY head honcho A.Ashdown in a b2b with BAM.
GET WITH THE MOTHER FUCKING PROGRAMME.
Bada bing bada boom.
