-1990: michaelangelo moves from Santa Cruz, California to the U.K. when the ‘Acid House Movement’ was starting at the venues known as: Rain Dance, Land of Oz, Spectrum, Shoom and Heaven.
In 1989 a a close friend creates a small warehouse party organisation called Brainstorm and michaelangelo is one of the djs.
-1993: Comes to Portugal for family motives. He receives an offer to inaugurate the renowned club in the south of Portugal called Kadoc for the summer season and due to his innovative technical dj’ing style and musical tastes michaelangelo is invited in the winter to come and play at Kremlin, the famous renowned Lisbon club alongside Dj Vibe. In the next 2 years his name gains a good reputation throughout Lisbon and Portugal, mainly due to the famous “After Hours” that Kremlin provided from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. and michaelangelo’s skill with 3 decks.
michaelangelo is Invited to go to Ibiza to play in Space, Pacha and Amnesia during the summer. He takes advantage of this situation and leaves behind the residency he had at Kremlin in order to expand his Dj’ing experience to an international level. Michael meets Patrick Sox, a promoter from Belgium and starts to Dj at Patrick Sox’s parties known as ‘Natural Elements’ with with the following Djs and producers Slam, Stacey Pullen, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Dimitri. These events took place in Belgium and Holland : Café D’Anvers, Club Boccaccio, La Rocca, Vaudeville club and the Roxy in Amsterdam, Holland.
He returns to Portugal and invests in an electronic event called Tribal Vibe.
The Tribal Vibe ‘Rave’ has an excellent turnout and he decides to stay in Portugal. He receives an offer to join the X-Club agency as one of the top djs. He remains in the X-Club until the year 2000 where he plays in all the major techno events throughout Portugal, mixes a dj set in 1999 for the X-Club’s 4th b’day party cd, which appeared on the cover of the portuguese dance magazine: ‘Dance Club’..
The labels Labrynth and Maze are created by michaelangelo. Labrynth is distributed by Integrale and Maze is distributed by Ideal. In the following 3 years he releases 11 records on his labels with the participations of Damon Wild, The Advent, Space Djz, Chris Jackson, Silicone Soul and A.Paul. Other djs started to release michael’s music on various techno compilations throughout the world. Sequence phenomenon (Japan) and Amnesia’s Ibiza Underground Sessions Vol.1 are 2 examples of Michael’s productions appearing on techno compilation cds.
– 2003: Decides to leave the X-Club, becomes a free lancer and dedicates much more of his time on his producing and his labels. He continues to play in all the main Techno events and for the next 5 years he is voted, at the annual Dance Club Awards , one of theTop 5 Techno Djs in Portugal.
Cisco Ferreira (The Advent) asks michaelangelo to remix a track for KR. He also produces a track called Zebron for the “Red Bull Homegroove” compilation cd and another track called Pillage for the complilation Off Áudio. Due to the bankruptcy of Integrale and Ideal, the 2 distributors who handled Labrynth and Maze, he decided to put his 2 labels on a temporary standby.
– 2006: Goes to Brasil on 7 different occasions to play in techno parties. His Dj sets and interviews are broadcasted on the Brasilian Tv and radio channels known as ‘Globo and CBS’. He starts to work on his 1st experimental hiphop/triphop Project called i2i.michael creates a down-tempo technoid/analog formula with industrial/ambience soundscape backgrounds which is incorporated into the album he produces:. ‘Time is running out’
-2006 were essential years in michaelangelo’s evolution as a producer. He delves further and further into the experimental and abstract realms of music in many different diverse genres, ranging from electronic ,drone, metal, ethnic, ambience and all kinds of soundscapes and textures in multiple forms. Ironic as it may seem, the bankruptcy of Ideal and Integrale caused his labels to remain in ‘limbo,’ which gave him the necessary time to evolve a conceptual perception of the path that Labrynth should take in the future.
Labrynth enters Beatport and the Release of Labrynth 008 on vinyl : Towards the Beyond EP will have the participation of Mike Parker, the renowned american producer and label owner of ‘Geophone’ Apart from releasing vinyl on his label Labrynth, he will also be editing trax on K.R. Ekhoport, Mastertraxx and the experimental electronic label: Hunger to Create, (Dasha Rush’s label.)
– 2010 michael releases 13 vinyl eps on his label labrynth, spanish label Subsist and UK label Duality which gets support from Mills, James Ruskin, Inigo Kennnedy, The Advent, Oscar Mulero, Subspace, Exium, Matt K, A.Paul, Billy Nasty, Ben Sims, Dave Miller,Marcel Heese, Dasha Rush, SamulI Kemmpi, Milton Bradley etc..
