We're back on Brick Lane for another intimate soiree for the Sunday faithful.
Joining us this time will be one of Manchester's finest up & coming talents - Ruthit.
RUTHIT
Born in the North East and residing in Manchester, Ruthit learnt his craft with DJing in Ibiza in 2008 hosting intimate parties for a following of friends. These parties quickly gave him the platform to develop his own sound of organic and melodic deep house which attracted the attention of the Zoo Project and earned him a residency in that same year.
With inspirations from a diverse range of influences of Orbital, John Digweed and Underworld to Shonky, Seph and Onur Ozer his productions have been bubbling underground for quite some time. Ruthit gained the foundation of his studio techniques as an audio engineer before focusing his talents towards the dancefloor. In the short space of 2 years Ruthit’s originality and warmth within his productions have shined through which has lead to being signed to Matt Star’s Underground imprint, London based label murmur, Varience, and releasing a solo EP on Four:twenty.
The momentum for his sound has no sign of slowing down in 2010. Forthcoming collaborations with Carlos Sanchez & DJ Ray (8bit / Supernature), Kabuto & Kojo (Supernature / Get Physical / Area Remote), MANIK (Ovum / Pokerflat) and Dualton (Viva / Bedrock) and a bonus remix ready to drop on Darren Emerson’s artist album alongside X-Press 2 which took the roof off at Miami this year. Ruthit’s ever-growing back catalogue has turned the heads of the electronic music elite with rave reviews from DJ Mag and Mixmag and full support on the dancefloor from Dubfire, Danny Tenagila, Stacey Pullen, Mic Neumann, Geddes, Audiofly and Adam Shelton to name a few.
As a DJ 2010 has been his best year yet, securing a bi-monthly residency at Cargo in London, rocking the Red Box at Space closing 2010 and playing to a sold out crowd before Dan Ghenacia at Zutekh in Manchester. As a unique partnership Ruthit can be regularly seen playing jaw dropping sets with fellow producer and close friend Calor at their monthly residency at T-Pot in Manchester playing roof terraces, gardens and secret locations around the city which has given him the platform to road test his productions to the following he has gained.
At only 2 years on, this is only the beginning for one of the brightest underground music talents of the UK.
COZZY D
A much-loved DJ on the London scene and an immensely prolific producer with a string of chart-topping releases both as a solo artist and as one half of duo D DUB, with his tracks being hammered by a wide range of huge names, gaining him massive exposure and International Gigs in the likes of Brazil, Italy, Australia, Thailand & Ibiza to name a few.
Cozzy has featured on labels such as 1Trax, Noir Music, Welt Recordings, Real Tone & Four:Twenty. He is also one of the founders of up & coming London Label ‘Lower East’ alongside Kanio & Lee Brinx.
Expect Cozzy to work the crowd into a frenzy with his unique take on Deep House with a hint of Nu-Disco, Techno & Old Skool Garage vibes all blended perfectly together.
ALEXIS RAPHAEL
Alexis’ sets embrace the various permutations of house music over the past 25 years. His in-depth knowledge of underground electronic music is in part due to him collecting vinyl for almost 20 years. You will be sure to hear a hidden gem from 88 thrown in on wax alongside unreleased promos and exclusive edits. His sets are always fresh, current, edgy and raw yet with an undoubtedly uplifting twist.
Due for release on a vinyl sampler around the end of March is Alexis’ debut release ‘Spaceship’. Jamie Jones signed the track for release with Hot Creations; a huge signing considering this will be Alexis’ first release. His follow up track will be the much-anticipated ‘Kitchens & Bedrooms’ which is due for release in May on Lower East records. It's clear the standard of his production has been set. Expect to hear his usual hybrid sound that combines the future and the past, a tantalising mix of 80s drum patterns and synths, disco-led baselines, dreamy vocals and old skool rave references.
