After the success of first event with Scott Ferguson, Dubbyman and Ernie. Northern Purpose are proud to present Detroit's very own Mr Rick Wade for a UK exclusive 3 hr set on Sat August 13th. Rick Wade's moody beats have been haunting us ever since first hearing his releases on Harmonie Park back in '94 remember "Late Night Basix Vol. 1" his velvet touch is unmistakable. You simply can always tell a Rick Wade composition instantly. It moves you, entrances you.
Rick is also an amazing DJ and has been playing for years, honed his craft in Michigan, spinning even bass music for a long time. He definitely knows how to rock a party as so many do from Detroit, but he is in a class of his own and a big favorite at Northern Purpose. Backing up Rick Wade will be NP's very own Brendan and Carl H.
Rick Wade was born in small-town western Michigan, less than an hour from Chicago's South Side. In the mid '80s, while studying at the University of Michigan, Wade gained his first gigs spinning deep underground house at the Nectarine Ballroom, the venue where Jeff "The Wizard" Mills was also making his name, for techno rather than for house. Simultaneously, Wade maintained a successful mix show on WCBN named "Journey To The Land of House." It was a huge success, as were his subsequent gigs at clubs in and around Detroit. So much so that, by '93, Wade was able to build his own studio and form a label, Harmonie Park. Wade has released his textured brand of house not only on his own label but also on the likes of Trackmode, Moods and Grooves, ATC, M3, Elevate, Chord 44/Container, Out Of The Box and Laid to name a few.
