THE GOLD LINE
We are first, last and always about a deep-rooted love and passion for electronic dance music and all efforts are toward creating a haven for those who share that love.

For our one year anniversary party (!), we wanted to celebrate in the same way we kicked things off one year ago when Raíz came and dropped some proper techno at our humble debut at Señor Fish last June.

DVS1 and DJ DEX promise to bring you hours of impeccably selected techno treats for your auditory pleasure. DVS1 has been straight murdering it with his DJ sets in the past year. His vinyl collection is over 10,000 strong and he consistently flexes the full muscle of his musical history every time he steps behind the 1's and 2's (legitimately - he still uses turntables). DJ DEX, simply put, is one of LA's finest techno DJs. He meticulously crafts each set with a deep musical knowledge and the guarantee of a journey.

We are also lucky enough to have No Thing of San Francisco's dubstep duo Babylon System gracing the decks on the patio for us. Babylon System has established itself as one of the premiere US dubstep outfits with both their relentless, vicious DJ sets and their aggressive production, with releases on Lutetia Dubs, Terminal Dusk, and many other respected dubstep labels.

Details on all headlining artists are below.

JULY 8 is also CHRIS'S BIRTHDAY, so come celebrate with him and the rest of the Gold Line family in proper style with bangin beats. We're gonna bust our asses getting some great ambiance and supplemental sound down there to make it one hell of a night.

DVS1:

Zak aka DVS1(devious one), is one of the most prominent figures in the Midwest/US dance music landscape today. A local DJ favorite since the mid nineties, DVS1 continues to move floors with a combination of deep musical knowledge, unparalleled enthusiasm, and a vinyl collection of more than 10,000 records. Zak’s deep roots and his bold and uncompromising nature have won him great respect as a passionate and outspoken defender and promoter (HUSH) of quality music.

Zak began DJing in New York in the early nineties, focusing on the acid sounds of that time. After relocating to Minneapolis in the mid 90’s, his style evolved, like that of techno itself, into something more complex, something deeper and more rhythmic. Since then, he has branched out into a wide variety of sounds—from hard and fast, to deep and hypnotic, to slow and soulful. Rather than giving limiting names to the genres he plays, he describes the music as beats, rhythms, textures, and colors. His philosophy is that the genre distinctions themselves aren’t important—the emotional content of the music is. This focus is readily apparent in the way he moves crowds—both literally and figuratively—by fusing together sounds that paint coherent, evocative, and powerful moods that are always appropriate for the time and place he is playing.

His range and emotional focus explains why as a DJ, Zak has garnered unique respect locally, around the U.S., and now worldwide. A consummate performer, Zak never maps out his sets ahead of time, opting to craft sets spontaneously from within the context they are intended for. He does this the old-fashioned way—with bags of wax carefully assembled from his massive record collection. This improvisational element makes each of his sets a one-of-a-kind personal expression, never again to be repeated, in which the audience’s mood and energy level always plays a notable role. Unsurprisingly, DVS1’s sets tend to draw large and enthusiastic crowds. In the past, he has shared the booth and been asked to open for some of the world’s most acclaimed DJ/Producers.

As a producer, DVS1 makes music that is simple, effective and captures the feeling of the moment. DVS1’s first release, on Ben Klocks label Klockworks (kw05) was released in August 2009 and was immediately charted by heavy weights such as Derrick May, Samuel Sessions, Luke Slater, James Ruskin, Stephan Goldman, Funktion, Dj Deep, Tommy Four Seven, Tamo Sumo, Martin Landsky, Efdemin, Dustin Zahn, Dario Zenker, Ryan Elliot, Insideout, Jonass Kopp, Par Grindvik, Marcel Fengler, Kevin Gormann, Tobi Neumann, Monika Kruse, Dos Santos, Kevin Saunderson, Mike Shannon, Ben Klock, Rejected, Camea.

With his second vinyl release on the legendary TRANSMAT label (MS98 Love Under Pressure EP) DVS1 once again stakes his claim and cements his position among current electronic music tastemakers. Similar to his first release, Love Under Pressure has been received with equal acclaim and charting from his peers. The track “Pressure” was licensed to the infamous Berghain club for Ben Klocks most recent mix CD (Berghain 04).

Future releases are already scheduled for Luke Slater (Mote Evolver) and for Klockworks. Remixes on Perc Trax, Prologue, Synewave and more on the way.

DJ DEX:

Nomadico aka DJ Dex has been producing and DJing for over 10 years. His talent for mixing all forms of funk, house and techno music has taken him from his hometown of Los Angeles to clubs and festivals in Detroit, New York, Madrid, Shanghai, Mexico City, Sao Paulo and all points in between. His studio work has resulted in remixes and original productions for Underground Resistance, Submerge, Los Hermanos, Transmat, Motech, Nublu Records, Compufunk, Revolve:r and ICAN Productions.

Regardless of the location, his hi-tech sound is a reflection of classic funk, soul and latin music.

Since returning to Los Angeles in 2010, DJ Dex has started a new project with fellow Angeleno, Esteban Adame. "El Coyote" is a latin techno-soul project which recalls the years spent with Detroit's "Los Hermanos" and injects a distinct L.A. style. Their debut "El Coyote EP" is out now on Ican Productions.

NO THING (Babylon System):

Babylon System, the California based dubstep outfit, consists of the killer combo of veteran dj/producers: ROOMMATE and NO THING. Since 2006 the two have been setting the world on fire with their aggressive, gangster and reggae infused dancefloor sound. Their releases are all anxiously awaited and their dubs are spun by every big dj in the scene. Tunes like “Examination of Time”, “Loaded”, “Get on up”, and “Hyphy” were instant anthems, selling out from all world wide record shops, with heavy support from giants like; N-type, Plastician, Bassnectar, Noah D, Emalkay, and Skream. Live, they get the party rowdy with quick mixes, diverse track selection, top shelf dubs, and their contagious positive energy. Not only are their legendary sets leaving a huge impression on every major North American city but they’ve turned heads all over Europe, and an Australia/New Zealand tour is their next target. Expect more anthem releases and smashed up dance floors. Watch out, their thick, gangster sound will knock you out!!!
