Line-up / Matt Edwards (Rekids / Quiet Village AKA Maxxi & Zeus)
Joel Martin (Quiet Village AKA Maxxi & Zeus)
On Friday 8th July we will be welcoming Matt Edwards (Rekids) & Quiet Village AKA Maxxi & Zeus to Plastic People to take over the decks for the entire evening.
Matt Edwards (AKA Radio Slave, AKA The Machine, AKA REKID... we could go on) is responsible for some of the biggest club tracks to hit dancefloors worldwide in the past five years. Originally from Brighton, but since 2008 based in Berlin, Matt's productions are consistently on-point. His Rekids ‘No Sleep’ EP series, beginning in 2006 and currently on Part Six, are always highly anticipated and highly coveted. They include essential DJ cuts like ‘Screaming Hands’ (which got the remix treatment from Josh Wink), ‘Tantakatan’ and ‘Koma Koma’ (made essential New Tune by Pete Tong). ‘Bell Clap Dance’ and ‘Grindhouse' became two of the biggest dance records of 2008, and 2010 saw him helm volume 5 of Strictly Rhythm's mix series, presenting re-edited versions of his favourite tracks across two CDs. As a remixer he has re-touched the likes of Talking Heads, Kylie Minogue and Carl Craig. Matt has been known to describe his productions as "purely sound system music", so what better place to hear him play than in Plastic People!
Joining Matt Edwards for this special all night long session is his production partner in crime, Joel Martin. Together they are better known as Quiet Village or Maxxi & Zeus. Having released three sought after singles on Whatever We Want back in 2005/2006, remixing acts such as Gorillaz, James Yorkston, Francois K and many more under the Quiet Village guise and releasing their debut LP Silent Movie to huge critical acclaim. The guys have been locked away working on new material under their other guise Maxxi & Zeus most recently which has been released through International Feel Recordings, home to DJ Harvey.
Together Matt and Joel will be providing the soundtrack to the evening so expect the unexpected as they delve deep into their record collections to bring you a slice of everything possible with an audio soundscape like no other!
