To celebrate Sigu Autobrennt’s 30th birthday, we’re throwing a very special party at Cielo in New York on September 15th. It will see a debut performance from BIS main man Tim Sweeny; the return of Slow Hands after his European Tour a Lie show from No Regular Play and support from Beg to Differ.
First up is the man the legend, Tim Sweeney. His Beats in Space radio show goes out across the airwaves each week and features a fine selection of house and techno talents old and new. With listeners all over the world, BIS is now an iconic brand all thanks to Sweeney’s impeccable ear for an electronic gem. Next up, Slow Hands - one of the finest crafters of sun soaked, vintage sounding but fresh slo-house around on labels like Wolf + Lamb and many others. Back from playing all over Europe, his homecoming will likely be something special indeed.
For those in the know, No Regular Play have been bubbling under for a while. After first appearing on the radar with a great podcast for fellow New Yorkers Wolf+Lamb, their improvised and instrumental slo-mo house productions have attracted more and more attention on the classically trained Brooklyn duo as 2011 has gone on. Fusing the free-form nature of jazz, the crackle of Dilla-esque hip-hop and the tasteful trumpet of Paulus with lazy, de-constructed house grooves, the No Regular Play sound is rich, organic and spacious.
Last but not least, New Yorkers Beg to Differ are Nick Chacona and Roy Dank. Releasing on Mood Music and This Is Not an Exit, the pair’s house and disco gets lapped up by everyone from Mark E to Aeroplane and is right on point at the moment. Their forte is DJing together, though, so don’t miss out.
Come join friends and extended family, then, for a happy smiley party set to some of the most sultry house sounds you could wish for in the tidy space that is Cielo.
