It's been 18 months. What have you done? New house? New job? New spouse? Hell, it's even enough time to squeeze out 2 children. How many albums have you bought? How many have you downloaded? And how many times have you turned around to address that musical elephant in the room? The one that has quietly existed like a ninja in the depths of your music library.
Flight Facilities very first solo track "Crave You" featuring Giselle took everyone by surprise; 2 Sydney DJ / producers that cut their teeth with cult party remixes for legendary local imprint Bang Gang 12 inches, created what became arguably the best pop track of 2010.
"Crave You" exceeded 1 million views on Youtube, has been loved by everyone from Aeroplane to Perez Hilton, was one of the most played track on Australia's biggest youth station triple j, hand picked for compilations by Ministry of Sound, Kitsune and Defected and for most of us it was the soundtrack to summer.
So what have Flight Facilities been doing?
Since "Crave You" was released Flight Facilities have toured Australia, Europe and Asia playing great Australian festivals to intimate clubs, remixed Cut Copy and Holy Ghost!, been banned from hotels in Japan, mixed tunes for Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 and squeezed into the top 20 in triple j's Hottest 100 in 2010.
So finally, a new Flight Facilities song. One in the form of a single, featuring the beautiful vocals of a local talent named Jess Higgs. Titled "Foreign Language".
A tune that looks back on the last year of adventures and experiences, swoons us with smooth walking bass lines, classic house strings, loads of guitar noodling, and anthemic vocals. All the perfect ingredients for a timeless summer anthem.
Was it worth the wait?
