READING ROOMS PRODUCTIONS (RRP), Reading Rooms Productions
A welcome return to Dundee's Reading Rooms for the man called EROL ALKAN and this time Erol brings long time, fellow ex-Trash DJ Rory Phillips (Durrr) who are also joined by local heros, ADO (Ctrl*Alt*Defeat) + IS_KILL (The Book Club) on warm up duties.
I heard that he invented the mash-up. I heard that he created the second coming of French Touch just by remixing Justice's 'Waters Of Nazareth'. I heard he bought guitar music back from the grave. No, it was electronic music. Or was it reggae? I heard he once revived a Roland 303 just by looking at it. Didn't you hear? He's bringing psychedelia back? Wait - I heard he's bringing Disco back? Didn't you hear? That's the thing about Erol Alkan - hearing is believing!
From darkened basements to superclubs, Rory Phillips has been illuminating London's nightlife for a decade now, with his residencies at Durrr, Our Disco and Trash as well as frequent appearances at clubs throughout the rest of Europe, North America and Asia. Somewhere between his new discoveries for Trash and the crate digging of Our Disco, Rory's signature sound was born. One eye to the future complimented by a predilection for unearthing lost gems. Post-Punk, Rock, Electro, Disco and Synthpop are all thrown into the mix with Rory joyously joining the dots between the genres.
