Mad Racket proudly presents the first Australian appearance of innovative Canadian producer & DJ, Frivolous, aka Daniel Gardner. In Gardner, ten years of “communist-style classical piano training” merged with a love of Detroit sounds, and he began tinkering with cutting edge electronics and home-made electronic instruments. Aged just 16, Gardner began his first residency in Vancouver in 1996, and two years later sent out a demo CD of unfinished work to five of the world’s most progressive electronic labels. “I told Andy (Vaz) [from Background records] that the work wasn’t finished, and the same day I received his reply was the day that the test pressings arrived…” Since then Frivolous has released a stream of acclaimed EPs for Background, Karloff, Poptronix and recently a full-length for ~scape. His music combines glitchy house rhythms with lush melodies and quirky vocals. Don’t miss his first show. Truly live.
