As the winter draws in and the nights become dark and long, System brings an intimate Cadenza showcase to Leeds. Join us on November 5th for a night of top quality music and extended dj-sets as we take a journey through the Cadenza spectrum courtesy of Cadenza boss Luciano and rising star Cesar Merveille.
Luciano
Despite his youth, Luciano is widely-regarded as a veteran and innovator of the Latin house and techno scene to emerge from South America in recent years. His distinct musical style earned him a plethora of critically-acclaimed releases on Perlon, Cocoon, Mental Groove, Get Physical and, of course, on his own hugely successful Cadenza Records. A headline DJ in his own right, Luciano has toured the world’s most influential clubs and festivals including D-Edge, Cocoon, Fabric, Creamfields and Time Warp, and via his Cadenza record label, can be credited with recognising and nurturing the talent of Guido Schneider, Reboot and Rhadoo amongst others. Luciano recently cemented his visionary status by completing a festival tour with his Æther project—blurring the boundaries between live performance and musical production.
Cesar Merveille
Influenced by his jazz roots, labels like Perlon or Circus Company and key figures such as Matthew Herbert and Ricardo Villalobos, Cesar delivered his first track, "Transit", in 2003 on Circus Company. Moving naturally from making records to spinning them, it wasn't long before he made a name for himself on the London scene and held residencies at Café 1001 and T-Bar. Since then Cesar's carefully honed production skills have earned him further releases on Serialism and Safari Electronique, with his “Chocopop Jazz” making a huge splash in 2008 and his debut EP on Cadenza in 2009, in collaboration with Pablo Cahn Speyer, featuring heavily in the sets of Luciano and Raresh. Now a firm member of the Cadenza stable Cesar continues to tour clubs across Europe and the world.
