The summertime may have disappeared faster than normal but that hasn’t stopped the sunshine coming in from Goodgreef! Whilst a hectic summer schedule has included blowing up in Ibiza, continual Tall Trees parties and a pocket of intimate GG raves across the nation, plus the announcement of a monster birthday in the Warehouse Project in Manchester, Goodgreef NW has been hibernating. But not for much longer one of GG’s favored residencies comes back into focus with Marco V headlining!
Marco V has been on top of the trance game for a long time, ever since his brilliant V.ision EPs, and in particular the huge ‘Inidcator’, came out in 2000. Since then he’s gone through a time of dropping timeless remixes, his huge version of Energy 52’s ‘Café del Mar’ saw him bombard his way into the Dj elite whilst he’s remixed the good and the great of trance, System F, Rank 1 and Cosmic Gate all artists who’ve had huge Marco V remixes. Regularly mentioned in the same breath as fellow flying Dutchmen Tiesto and Armin van Buuren, Marco remains one of the most enigmatic djs around, with a trademark sound that encompasses house, techno and electro has well as the hard, groovy trance he’s become synonymous with. He’s never failed to anything other than blow people’s minds every time he’s performed for GG, this date is unlikely to be anything less!
Supporting Marco in the main room will be none other than NYC trance wunderkind Sean Tyas. Since relocating from his native New York to Switzerland a few years ago, Tyas has literally begun to crash into the upper reaches of trance fans admiration and love on account of his no nonsense approach to playing and making music. Favoring a hard and energetic sound, he plays trance how it should be; searing emotional riffs and bolshy, energetic beats, making “clubbers dance their asses off!” He’s remixed pop artists like Pink and Christina Aguilera, as well as trance anthems from Sander van Doorn and PPK, winning plaudits from the likes of PVD, Matt Darey and Paul Oakenfold along the way. His sound is just as likely to win over the legs as well as the heart, and he’s set to rock 53 Degrees to its very foundations!
Next in line is Goodgreef’s own superstar Alex Kidd! The Kidd has been making waves in hard dance for a few years now off the back of his GG residency, being just as good at playing warm melodic trance at the beginning of the night as he is banging out the hard sstuff right at the end! No-one knows or understands the clubbers at GG better and he’s bound to destroy the floor once more! He’s joined in making up the support with two more GG home-grown legends in the making, Barry Connell and Matt Everson.
In the house room one of the biggest stars of the new dirty and funky movement is playing centre stage, brum stalwart Mickey Slim! Resident at the midlands finest club Godskitchen and a rapidly rising production supremo, 2007 has seen a cheeky re-edit of House of Pain’s ‘Jump Around’, remixes of Calvin Harris and an international tour across several continents with GK. His brand of good time, party focused ‘avin it house music is perfect for the GG floors and will no doubt be just the recipe for an evening of fun!
Support for Mickey comes courtesy of some of the GG house favourites, with Paul Flintoff, Curious Hi Fi Djs and Michael Godsmark all lined up!
