Spectrasoul (Shogun Audio) - Alternative Set
SpectraSoul have a reputation among Drum & Bass heads that's second to none. Vital members of DJ Friction's irrepressible Shogun Audio movement, the duo have released music on only the very finest, most respected labels in the scene. Beautifully deep and etched with grove, yet powerful enough to move any dancefloor, SpectraSoul's stunning musical productions are a far cry from the soulless, synthetic rave fodder so many unfortunately associate with Drum & Bass today. Tracks such as 'Alibi' for Critical,'Melodies' for Exit, 'Guardian' on Metalheadz and their stunning collaborations with Alix Perez on 'Forsaken' and dBridge on 'Glimpse', have insured SpectraSoul are one of the most talked about and respected acts in D&B today.Bridging the gap between light and dark, hard and smooth, both in the studio and their DJ performances, SpectraSoul's energetic and varied sets continue to draw crowds at some of the most prestigious venues around the world. With an album project forthcoming, the duo look to expand musical boundaries, explore bass-driven genres like never before, and stamp their mark on present-day music... the SpectraSoul way.
DJ Blakey (DMC / 1Xtra)
DJ Blakey is one of the hottest club and battle DJs on the UK circuit, having previously claimed the 2004 UK Technics/DMC title, as well as winning the UK DMC Team Championship as part of the 'Truesicians' Crew in 2003. Unlike most of his counterparts he isn't just a turntablist. Blakey has been very active in the club scene, appearing at cutting edge clubs across Europe (Fabric/London, Gatehouse/Derby, Rust/Copenhagen, Savannah/Ibiza, No Fakin'/Liverpool.), whilst regularly holding down residencies in London clubs such as Bar Rumba, 333, Sound, Herbal, Elbow Rooms, and a residency at Eclectic Breaks. His first release in 2004 was the turntable remix of Kelis' Milkshake, which received heavy rotation on Radio 1, London's Kiss FM and Brighton's Southern FMm as well as being a club favourite. Since winning the 2004 DMC Final he has been making his mark on the UK Hip Hop and scratch scene, Blakey has been booked to play the world over, spreading his love and skills to audiences in award winning venues in countries as far reaching as; Kenya, Thailand, India, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, Qatar, Germany, Poland, Austria, Denmark, Spain and the USA. His strong influence on the UK’s hip hop and scratch culture/scene soon saw him representing the genre in a massive way, with the launch of his BBC Radio 1Xtra show which launched in 2005 and ran for three years. Within this show Blakey interviewed some of the most prolific and respected Artists/ DJ’s in the Hip Hop scene including: Jazzy Jeff, DJ Shadow and Slum Village. But his connection to the world famous BBC Radio 1 network stretched way back to when he became the first person to contribute a mix to the notorious Annie Mac show known now as the ‘Mini Mix’ section of her award winning weekly show. In 2007 he supported Jurassic 5 throughout their entire UK tour, and has also supported Nas in 2007 at the Bristol Academy, and Jay-Z in 2004 at the Prince's Trust Urban Music Festival.
Craggz (Valve / Product)
Craggz is no newcomer to the industry with 16 years experience behind him. His big break came in 2004 with the release of anthems Fizzy Piglets & Love Insane on the mighty Valve Recordings, which was followed up with a critically acclaimed long-player “Northern Soul” alongside Parallel Forces. Craggz has worked with some of the biggest names in D&B including DJ Marky, Roni Size, Jenna G, London Elektricity as well as travelling the globe as a DJ touching down in places such as Japan, the U.S.A and all across Europe. Currently enjoying the success of his second album ‘Turn the Page’ Craggz Dj sets cover all bases from soul to techno.
With musical tastes encompassing pretty much all genres and a record collection to match Haste has never been a man to be tied down to one style. Starting out as a jungle DJ back in the 90s and the man behind the RollDaBeats website you can expect a mix of up-to-date dance music with a nod to classics and forgotten gems from the past.
