mono_cult - Bonfire night special - Secret warehouse party
First up we would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who attended our party at The Faversham. The atmosphere and tunes were wicked all night, with Ben Westbeech, Miguel Campbell, Move-D, Joy Orbison and Pearson Sound knocking out some of the freshest sounds we’ve heard in a long time! It was a great way for us to kick-start our new season of parties and boy do we have a banger of an event to unleash on you this Bonfire Night! We’re confident even Guy Fawkes himself would approve of this bad-boy!
We have always tried to think outside of the box when it comes to our party venues and we are constantly on the look out for the next ‘special space’ to put on an event. Safe to say we have found just that space for our next party! Located only 5 minutes outside of Leeds city centre, this quirky and eccentric warehouse space has never been used for a party like ours before. The open plan, two floor layout and raw industrial feel makes this venues potential electrifying! Just to keep things exciting we are keeping the venues identify top secret until a couple of days prior to the event. We can tell you that this is a limited 450 capacity ticketed event which we expect to sell out, so get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
Given that it’s bonfire night, we have secured a line up that will ensure the night goes off with the BANG it deserves. First up, we are buzzing to welcome back an old friend who is on fire at the moment-the one and only Julio Bashmore. Since rising to prominence with his huge crossover anthem ‘Battle for Middle You’ this wise beyond his year’s Bristolian producer has gone from strength to strength. Julio’s unique bass heavy productions are the sound of the moment and this has led to his tunes being released on labels as diverse as Claude Von Stroke’s ‘Dirtybird’ and Martyn’s more experimental 3024 Imprint. Julio’s DJ skills are on par with his productions and we were lucky enough to see him steal the show on the Resident Advisor stage at the Hideout Festival in Croatia this summer. Not bad considering Jamie XX and Dixon were the other headliners that night! He rocked it for us back on our 4th Birthday in April and fresh from his huge essential mix for Radio 1 we’re sure he’s going to take the roof off once more!
Next up is another young and explosive British talent in the form of Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points! As co-founder of the elusive Eglo Records, Floating Points entered the world of production in 2009 with a flurry of releases including Love Me Like This and most notably of all the Vacuum EP which included the already legendary ‘Vacuum Boogie’ track that went on to be championed by DJs the world over. These releases revealed a style that combines elements of deep house, soul, hip-hop and jazz, all of which can be heard in his signature ‘Dubby Disco’ sound. Sam is no slouch behind the decks either as his residency at London clubbing institution Plastic People goes to show, where he is renowned for his jacking yet eclectic sets that can include elements of garage, house, classic disco and funk. Quite simply he is one not to be missed!
So, we’ve got the venue, we’ve got the DJs now all we need is YOU! This promises to be a ridiculously good party that will help us celebrate Bonfire Night in true explosive fashion. The venue is raw, intimate and has mono_cult written all over it so don’t miss out on what promises to be a 5th of November to truly remember!
