FRENCH FRIES, YOUNG MONTANA? (live), Kidnap Kid
For our maiden outing the team at Lightworks have put together a boundaryless line up that’s guaranteed to tickle every synapse, a suave old blend of latter day bass and Frenchian 2 step, with a helping of logic defying, maniac hip hop thrown in for good measure.
OPENING NIGHT – 14/10 @ DQ - £5
LIGHTWORKS DJS (Louis Louis, Baka Baka, Randem Mandem)
Since the Pitch bent Vocal madness of his house bullet "Sentaâ€, French Fries has steadily bubbled above and beyond the cusp to become a world champion of bass music. Recent stints on Rinse FM and Boiler Room play testimony to his ever growing popularity on the UK circuit: A Sheffield debut not to be missed.
Young Montana’s dazzling debut album - "Limerence" was released earlier this year on Alpha Pup, a glorious mess of scattered beats, red raw oscillations and ingenious sampling, somehow reined-in to form a coherent and truly remarkable selection of music. His live show promises to be equally special, fans of unexpected nods, left turns and truly wonky dynamics will not disappointed.
To round things off we have Sheffield’s own Local boy done good and Lightworks resident - Kidnap Kid. His Impressive Debut EP on Squelch & Clap earlier this year mixed post-post-step rhythmic rasp with room drenching synths to deadly effect, turning some of the biggest heads in electronic music. A real big tip for 2012.
