IN:VISION is a new night to the Leeds scene. We want to provide the city with underground house music and that only.

For our launch night, we welcome down Rob Mello, a huge name in the industry who needs no introduction, he produces music of the highest order and we are very pleased for him to be opening our night. Along side Rob we have James Barnsley, a man well known in Leeds and is now getting his name heard across the UK with forthcoming releases on Murmur, District Raw, Get Physical.

Rob Mello

London based DJ and Producer; Rob Mello has recorded, produced, and remixed a diverse catalogue of releases since 1992. One of his guises was the pioneering disco and house duo Disco Elements/ Sensory Productions, Previously signed to Azuli Records. Rob was also co-founder of the saucy house label Luxury Service and produced the first Black Science Orchestra single with Ashley Beedle, “Where were you”, released on the legendary London house label, Boys Own.

Since then Rob has been appearing regularly on Classic Records and after 10 years of releases for this label has produced the very last release on this ground breaking label. Rob has also made the move into film score work. In 1999 Rob, with Matthew Herbert, was responsible for writing all the incidental music on the UK club culture movie, Human Traffic for which they were up for nomination for a BAFTA. Rob has been DJing since 1986 and has pioneered his own style that is much in demand with various regular appearances and residences all over the world, far too many to mention!

Rob appeared regularly on Classic Records for 10 years. He is also Heaven and Earth alongside Luke Solomon and Zaki Dee who released “Prescription Every night” on Chez Damier and Ron Trent’s Prescription Records hailing from Chicago. This was later released again in 2009 on Running Back records. Rob also has his own imprint “Disco 45″ which has released music by Robert Owens, Mugwump, Lil Mark, Luke Solomon and Jonny Rock (Freaks) and is about embark on a new label with old time partner Zaki Dee. This will encompass everything wonderful that they brought to Luxury Service. Back in the 80’s Rob wanted to learn everything about his art so what better then to build his own soundsystem from scratch. Taking influences from the reggae sound systems of the day. Playing blues parties, nottinghill carnival and warehouse raves.

Rob honed his skills djing alongside Ashley Beedle and Shock Sound System playing clubs and raves around London. In the 90’s Rob played regularly at the legendary Space club at Bar Rhumba and “Friday’s r’ Firin” Plastic People. A 10 year residency at the End nightclub with Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon.. Rob also had his own show on Girls FM in the 90’s where he first met Kenny Hawkes. Since then playing at Fabric and having a 5 year residency at the Tea Rooms in Shorditch and regularly playing around the world.

James Barnsley

James Barnsley’s musical talent is testament to his dedication and showcases the best in quality underground house music. As a young DJ James already holds a residency at the world renowned Back to Basics at Stinky’s Peephouse in Leeds (UK), where he regularly plays alongside some of the biggest names in house music, recent gigs have seen him DJ with the likes of Kerri Chandler, Damian Lazarus & Mattaias Tanzmann to name a few.

When he’s not setting the dance floor alight at Basics, you will catch him playing at nights all over the UK and Europe, Including Mulletover, Below, Just Jack and Space in Ibiza. James’s focus for 2011 is his music production, his talent and hard work in the studio has already paid off and seen him signed to labels such as Get Physical, Murmur, District Raw and Amazing Music. His Production like his Dj’ing has received a great amount and support from the world premier dj’s such as D’julz, Steve Bug and Josh Wink. Watch this space as there is a lot more to come from this talented lover of all things house over the next year."
