Line-up / Andy Lewis (live), Eddie Piller, The Bees, The Crackles, Stuart Kirkham, Emma Sunley, Jah Shabby, Gary Barrell, The Horse
Promoter / Rock'n'RollSoul
Can it really be 10 years since Gary Barrell, Nat Cramp and The Horse edged nervously into the Dove Regent, Islington, with suitcases full of vinyl and CDs, a Fisher Price mixer and a string of chilli lights to treat the assembled group of friends, colleagues and Belgian beer enthusiasts to their hastily patented formula of soul that rocks and rock with soul (plus World Of Twist)?
Well, yes it is … nearly, and to celebrate ten ...banging years at the Dove, The Albany, The Cock, the Slaughtered Lamb and The Phoenix, plus the sterling service of aforementioned Cramp, Jimmy Young, Wee Al and the Funk Pursuivant, we're throwing the mother of all parties.
Joining Gary, The Horse and most recent recruit Jah Shabby on the decks will be our favourite purveyor of fripperies EMMA SUNLEY, estimable compilation king and Soul Cure stalwart STUART KIRKHAM, sampladelic soul men THE CRACKLES, and Isle Of Wight ecelecticists THE BEES. Modcast host and Acid Jazz main man EDDIE PILLER will also swing by for a short set, while squeezing his live band in for a sparkling soul revue will be Paul Weller bassist, Parklife tour DJ and all-round good egg of the good groove ANDY LEWIS.
It's an occasion that's not to be missed, a three-line whip for the faithful, with doubtless a few more surprises on the night. Pick up or print out a flyer or dig out an old Rock'n'RollSoul badge and you'll get in for the staggeringly generous tariff of £4.
