La Cheetah Club
La Cheetah has had an eventful second year in 2011. We have opened our doors to fantastic acts including Egyptian Lover, Marcellus Pittman, Tevo Howard, Steve Rachmad, Instramental and 2562 to name only a hand full. There has been the inclusion of improved lighting and visuals in the club and the sound system is due for an overhaul shortly. To celebrate, La Cheetah is kicking off part one of its 2nd birthday in style with a clone records party.
Clone record label and Dutch based record shop have been responsible for releasing some of the most seminal electronic music for nearly the last 20 years. Founded in 1993 by Serge Veschuur the label quickly made a name for itself in the 90’s and early 00’s with releases from artists such as Alden Tyrell, Dexter, I-F, D.I.E, Putsch ‘79, Duplex and ADULT. All brought their own unique takes on house, techno, italo and electro and were pivotal in
establishing the label as one of the most original labels of the time. The label is responsible for releasing Drexciyas final album Grava 4 and followed with reissues of records by Drexciya and Dopplereffekt, keeping their ties with Gerald Donald to release his Der Zyklus project. In 2009 Serge announced the closure of clone records, stating that, in order to stay passionate about what the label does it must change.
Now in 2011, as a reaction to the label being pigeon holed into genres in the 2000’s, the label has changed it’s approach and gone from strength to strength. For nearly two years now it has reinvented itself with a number of off shoot labels, designed to allow the exploration of certain sounds and styles: Clone West Coast, Clone Club, Clone Basement, Clone Jack for Daze, Clone Aqualong, Clone Royal Oak and Clone Loft Supreme.
On the night we are more than excited to invite two Glasgow favourites and artists who have been their from the beginning. Alden Tyrell and a currently on point Dexter will both be performing live in La Cheetah bringing you the best in all things clone and beyond!
