For those that didn’t attend the boat party, shame be upon you, it was as rare and ridiculous as a Berlusconi Bunga party. But fear not, we’re back at Cosmic Ballroom this month introducing someone who’s been a big bleep on our radar for some time.
Bristol based producer Arkist is one of many exploring areas between dubstep and d&b; but it’s his uncanny ability to integrate elements of garage, 2-step and techno with seamless talent that sets his place at the captains’ table. His releases on Apple Pips, Deca Rhythm and close work with Immerse boss Kidkut show a natural growth and progression of sound, and a recent free ‘Double Zero EP’ described as a “rough history of dubstep” exploring all corners of grime, garage and dub-techno further identify his refreshing defiance of boundaries. With so much in the way of influence, it’s rare to find someone so distinct and organic.
Signed to two of UK dance music's most forward thinking labels (Apple Pips and Hot Flush) and with remixes from label boss Scuba and D&B badman Alix Perez, there’s no doubt we’re all in for a treat with this one!
Support is provided by local yutes Funk Ethics and Joonipah, both with quality releases of their own, and the high-flying Faction boys hosting room 2. All this for 6 quids...why ruddy not.
