OMAR SANTANA
Tricked Out - H2OH – Moonshine – Ninja Tune - NYC
This tale from the hard-side begins back in the early '80's in the metropolis of New York City where John "Jellybean" Benitez's residency at The Funhouse Club in Manhattan had fulfilled the job of inspiring a whole new generation to take the sound of dance music well into the future and beyond. One of these disciples went by the name of Omar Santana. From the borough of Queens, New York, Omar slowly began to make a name for himself as a DJ in the Dynamic Rockers crew, putting on jams, sound-battles and creating a solid underground vibe to rock the city. During this time, Omar started linking up with likes of Arthur Baker, as well as the Tommy Boy and Sleeping Bag Records camps. This led to many studio projects as he started producing in a big way and during the '80's worked alongside some of the true sound pioneers like Mantronix, Boogie Boys, T la Rock and Stetsasonic.
The man was now on a proper roll and going from strength to strength by editing and remixing such artists as Public Enemy, Janet Jackson, Simply Red, Quincy Jones and The Rolling Stones. The list of his recording credits is endless... Omar was in serious demand and very quickly became known as one of the "Editing Kings" who would consequently stand the test of time as an inspiration for all future warriors in the trade of cut-up beats and sound. The legendary Omar Santana is one of the true pioneers of breakbeat and his early releases and mix CD’s for Moonshine in the late 90’s are seminal to the breakbeat sound that exists today. And when the Chemical Brothers went looking for samples guess whose door they knocked on?
Eventually, the time came for Omar to create an outlet for his own material and H2OH Recordings was developed to release his own brand of hardcore beats. The label built up a strong reputation and such was it's success that a sister label by name of Tricked Out Recordings was brought into operation to set the agenda for American breakbeat. In addition, Wavewhore is a resident at the Sullivan Room, one of New York City’s premier underground venues, and he regularly hosts ‘The Audio Tactics Sessions’ on the Breakspoll award-winning BreaksFM internet station (www.breaksfm.com).

ORION
Disorient – Spiral Blaster – NYC
Orion has been DJing parties in New York City since 2002. Cutting his teeth with house music and remixes, his selections have grown to include heavy doses of funky breaks and other music which favors dirty basslines and sexy samples. Orion first discovered the practice of music when he received a guitar for his 13th birthday. As his curiosity for music increased, a fascination with sound led him to pursue classical training in music composition at the Oberlin conservatory of Music. After graduating as a Bachelor of Music, he moved to New York to seek his fortune and maybe learn how to DJ on the side. These days, when not DJing, he works as a Recording Engineer and Music Producer in the downtown Manhattan. He also performs live as a member of the techno band Spiral Blaster.
