Tribe Recordings were already familiar with the Arts Club (after presenting their super-popular soulful house parties here), but Can You Dance To My Beat, which launched last month, is a brand new night of wonderful music from around the world.
The opening night of Can You Dance To My Beat last month was packed with an appreciative crowd as Zepherin Saint took the crowd on a globe-trotting journey which was driven along by a fantastic performance from percussionist Oli Savil, who brought a unique live feel to the night.
This month we embark on another special experience with Zepherin Saint exploring the influence of tropical music on the dance floor from Cuba's Afro-rumba to Angola's kuduro, South Africa's deep and infectious kwaito house and mesmerising Khalegi rhythms from the middle east, so make sure you're in the house..
Zepherin Saint's musical collection spans the globe and in his more recent productions you can find influences of traditional and contemporary sounds from the African and middle eastern diaspora. 'Midnight Mawal', his latest offering, bears witness to this by fusing the ancient Arabic vocal tradition of Mawal with deep house - it's been featured on the latest Buddha Bar compilation.
Zepherin Saint is recording extensively in Egypt and Beirut, melting electronic sounds to mash with traditional folk instruments, cutting-edge rhythms and lavish eastern orchestras. He is working on a world music album which is due out early in 2012.
