Years ago, back in the mists of time, producers were trapped. They had to make a choice, and stick to it. The deep house producer made deep house. The garage producer made garage. The techno producer made techno. Some, like Fergie, tried to cross between the camps, but they were spurned by the masses and had to flee back to their hard house caves to drink PImms out of a teapot.
These days, of course, it’s all changed. The sounds of 2-step pervade house like skittering spiders, and the glacial pads of ambient electronica rub up alongside acid and pseudo-breaks, or something equally pretentious. The main thing is, it’s anything goes, and December’s guest knows more than most about making the disparate work as the whole…

Youandewan (Magic Bag / Disfigured Dubz)
Based in Leeds, but sounding like he could come from Detroit, Bristol or Berlin, Youandewan’s haunting marriage of house, techno and garage has been pricking the ears of everyone from Mary Anne Hobbs to Sven Väth. Leeds imprint Magic Bag and Skream’s Disfigured Dubz have been the homes for Ewan’s originals to date (and original is very much the operative word) and his remix skills have been demanded by members of the new school vanguard Midland and Maya Jane Coles.
Recent mixes for Zleep, Defected and Jaunt have shown off skills honed in Leeds’ System, Mint’s in-house night. Moving between blistering bass and atmospheric house, he knows how to run a room, read a crowd and build an atmosphere, and we’re very excited to have him come play our December party.
