Come join us this Thursday at The Raq, a beautiful Bar/Lounge on Queen West, a true hidden gem in Toronto.
DJ Frisk is a music junkie who gets his high from banging out mixes that are sometimes unexpected, sometimes nostalgic, but always cutting edge. He first honed his talent for making beats on his drum set before the lure of a pair of turntables called him into DJing. That was back in 2003 and since then, Frisk has developed his passion and skills for creating music and mixes that are highly addictive. In the past 7 years alone, he has played over 600 shows in virtually every major Vancouver club, DJed for an impressive list of celebrity clientele, and rocked the house in various Montreal, San Diego, Los Angeles and Seattle hotspots.
As fresh as the minty gum he took his name after, Frisk is a self-proclaimed hip-hop head with a serious case of music ADD. Hes been known to incorporate all genres into his sets including reggae, electro, classic rock, disco, Latin, Persian, and just about any other genre you can think of. This versatility coupled with his unique ability to read the crowd are just some of the reasons he earned the title of Vancouvers #1 Up and Coming DJ at the 2010 Megablend DJ Competition at Republic. Frisk was unanimously voted the winner among a pool of 32 other talented DJs.
Frisks talent for incorporating his club-style mixing into any genre of music and playing to any crowd have made him one of the most sought after mobile and club DJs on the West Coast. His passion for music eventually led to making his own unique tracks, and in 2011, he and 3 friends started a group called The Lost Boys. Their mixes, remixes, originals and re-edits have been featured on major music blogs and websites such as The Hype Machine, The Burning Ear, Pigeons & Planes, DJ City, and more. With music production, bigger venues and more international shows on his mind, you can expect (in his own words) nothing but gnarly things to come from DJ Frisk.
