Louche presents Wolf + Lamb Showcase photo gallery
So, to greet the new year after a nice festive break, we are kicking off 2012 by showcasing one of the most precocious and versatile labels to emerge in recent years, Wolf + Lamb.
Setting things off in New York in 2005, back in the beginning, W+L Used their base in Brooklyn (The Marcy) as a haven for raw talent such as Seth Troxler, Deniz Kurtel, Shaun Reeves, No Regular Play, among many others.Nowadays they remain at the forefront of forward thinking dance music. Pioneering and polishing a very contemporary style, amalgamating classic rare groove, 80's sleaze, early hip-hop and r'n'b influences, and simply making them housable. They also arguably have had a large say in reviving the 'edit' back to the popularity of the days of Levan and Hardy, and once again, making it trendier than a conclusive scatter diagram!
So heres whats on the menu..
Co- founder Baby Prince, the artist formerly known as Gadi Mizrahi has kissed our dance-floor three times now, the last being at the Louche leg of the DJ Kicks tour in April alongside Zev and Soul Clap. A tried and tested guest DJ who always brings the heat, Gadi's insatiable appetite for a party and his penchant for stiff drinks, and 100 bpm slo jams always go down a treat with the Louche crowd.
Cosmic superhero duo Voices of Black are the newbies to the W + L family, having only this year given up a life of fighting fraudulence and saving the lives of suicidal supermodels. Their debut release 'Plastic Dolls' was a tribute to their heroes; Fela Kuti, George Clinton, J Dilla & Thom Yorke, and these influences shine through when listening to the colourful album, amongst trademark infectious melodies, simple soulful vocals and introspective lyrics. The young bucks from New Jersey Jules and Baba are still both just 21.
We've got some absolutely killer lineups this year. Hold tight as we move up'n inside!
