PPU VIDEO PARTY!!

People's Potential Unlimited (PPU) is a very special record label in DC known for discovering and reissuing some of the weirdest and best ultra-rare boogie, funk, and other dance music from the 70s, 80s, 90s++. This party marks the release of the label's second 'Video Party' DVDs, a bizarre & awesome montage of rare footage of some of the artists and shows/dance parties of the era. The videos are put together in inimitably schizo high-art style by Luke Wyatt, 'video mulch' artist, and for the party he will be projecting a first glimpse of the DVD and improvising live from the material with an analog VJ hardware setup.
Label head Andrew Morgan DJs from his ultracoveted collection, joined by Ital for an all night vinyl-only deck session. There will be live performances by Jonas Reinhardt and Xosar, who are each celebrating their record releases on 100% Silk, and L.I.E.S. As always there will be projections, lights, a little fog & drinks.. come dance!

The man behind the Peoples Potential Unlimited imprint.. you may not have heard of him but there are record nerds out there tracking his every move. He almost never DJs these days, but everyone in DC knows that when he does you dont want to miss it! Close friends with Beautiful Swimmers, its that real deal, quirky/funky DC sound. I have mixes by him that I absolutely treasure so I'm thrilled to have him play this party.

Balancing out the old school of the night is Ital, who's futuristic take on house and techno has been catching on around the world this year, making tons of top 2011 lists for his two 12"s on 100% Silk and his self released 12" Culture Clubs. He's an awesomely raw & visceral producer but also a badass DJ. Its only these two the whole night so get ready for a wild ride.
