For our next Discovery, we’re honored to host Chez Damier and Kai Alcé. Both guys have a resume that could suffice as a dance music PHD and there’s hardly a night one of their records isn’t in our bag. They worked together at Detroit’s first club dedicated to House and Techno music, the famed Music Institute. Kai, who was only 16 at the time, lied about his age and got a job working the lights. Chez ran Prescription Records, one of the most influential House labels, and his involvement early on with KMS helped shape the face of house and techno as we know it. Kai later NDATL Records as a homage to his influences from his hometown New York City, the music that inspired him while living in Detroit, and new base in Atlanta.
Finding their own sounds after being exposed to so many facets of early American dance culture, Chez and Kai have been putting out some of the best deep and sexy house music this decade. We’re excited to bring them together for a very special Discovery. Skilled hands on real records all night, what more could we ask for?
