Project ZOO: LA was created with one thing in mind - The Music. Project ZOO is a monthly party designed to help build our community by bringing in some of the hottest talent in the underground movement! Yes, we live in a city where it's all about exclusivity, but we think the scene shouldn't be. By putting too many restrictions on a party, it becomes all about "who" instead of the "what" - the what being great music. We are losing sight of what really matters - the music... and that is what brings people together!

Project ZOO's goal is to throw a party where everyone is welcome but attitude is not. Where musical boundaries get crossed yet no rules are broken. Where you might show up knowing only a few people yet leave with a bunch of new friends all connected by the beat.
Project ZOO is simply somewhere for people to come together and share the love for insanely good house music.

We first like to thank our supporters and artists for all the great vibes through the end of 2011. We had a great ride w/ talent such as Stacey Pullen , Subb-an, Music Savages and Superfreq residents (David Scuba and Xo Chic). The new year brings a fresh attitude and new excitement! The underground scene has seen some major moves across the globe and we at festivalZOO want to take part in bringing you some of the freshest up and coming artists in the scene!

If you took part of the super hot Culprit Summer Sessions on the rooftop at the Standard, you may have already been exposed to bad boy Richy Ahmed! Richy graced the decks for an extended set warming it up for Hot Natured (Lee Foss and Jamie Jones) what came to be a truly memorable night on the rooftop(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg2FQZDmFMc)!

Our first artist of 2012 comes from the simmering hot crew and record label Hot Creations, voted #8 on RA top labels (http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1421). Richy has been on some of the hottest bills to close 2011, including day 1 w/ Hot Natured (Lee Foss and Jamie Jones). You can also catch Richy playing at this year's opening festival BPM alongside some mates that are going to be making a rukus in 2012! About Richy Ahmed (Hot Creations, One Records)

Richy Ahmed is at the forefront of a new wave of British DJs, who are re-defining house music taking cues from disco, techno, funk and hip-hop.

Over the last year British house music has been through a renaissance with a whole new generation of DJs and producers like Robert James, Julio Bashmore, Russ Yallop and Maya Jane Coles quickly making names for themselves. In the midst of this surge of homegrown talent is Richy Ahmed, Hot Natured resident and part of the Hot Creations inner circle. Richy has spent the last two summers cutting his teeth at some world’s best parties including, Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival, Sonar in Barcelona, The Nexus at Burning Man in the middle of the Nevada desert, Glastonbury Festival's 40th Anniversary, We Love at Space in Ibiza and the Get Lost and Hot Natured parties in Miami. Playing alongside some of house music’s biggest stars, Richy is regularly tipped as one to watch by the likes of Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus, Clive Henry and Seth Troxler. Hailing from Newcastle in the north of the UK, he still makes regular appearances at events across the UK such as Below in Birmingham, Sankeys in Manchester, MuMu in Liverpool, The Breakfast Club in Bristol and London's notorious Sunday afterhours institution Kubicle.

The launch of Jamie Jones and Lee Foss' Hot Creations label last year turned underground house music on its head, rapidly becoming one of the most popular new labels in dance music. As resident at their hugely successful Hot Natured parties held in London, Detroit, Barcelona, New York, LA and Miami, Richy has been at the centre of this nu-school house explosion and started releasing music this spring with the much-vaunted ‘Suck It’, released as part of the Hot Waves project. Armed with uniquely individual sound that fuses the energy of house and disco with infectious funk-inspired grooves and a touch of sullen mystery, his style has a distinct edge that’s impossible to pinpoint. As if to demonstrate this, the podcast he released to promote his recent debut at fabric for their Hot Natured showcase has proved to be one of the most downloaded mixes from fabricfirst in 2011.
