Welcome to Inner City Electronic, a new project that will showcase the very finest acts in electronic music from right across the musical spectrum. Kicking off proceedings we descend upon The Mint Club, humbly welcoming the technical genius that is James Zabiela, in town for his first gig of 2012, with support from the hotly tipped up and comer T. Williams.
When James Zabiela comes to town you know it's going to be a night to remember. Unrivalled in terms of technical ability behind the decks, James has risen through the ranks to super stardom over the last decade with his genre-bending, boundary-defying style. Warping, twisting and layering his music, James uses an arsenal of FX kit to keep adorning punters feet moving and heads spinning; his energetic sets spanning tech house, breakbeat, techno and electro, layered with trippy loops, bleepy scratches and fluttering chord changes. He's played endless gigs the world over, some era defining like his ongoing residency at Space Ibiza to one off shows like Exit Festival and Detroit Movement Festival. The cosy confines of Mint Club will provide the rare opportunity to see a true superstar in such an intimate environment.
Uniquely straddling the sentiments of deep house, UK funky and dubstep Londoner Tesfa Williams comes to Inner City Electronic riding high fresh off the back of two nominations in DJ Mag's 2011 polls for breakthrough DJ and best remix. His records are infectious and hypnotic but flow with subtle intricacies and a mature delicacy: check the massive vocal cross-over hit 'Hearbeat', which made it's way into all the biggest DJ's boxes. His label Deep Teknologi has allowed Tesfa to explore yet more of his musical horizons. Releasing various different styles of electronic music, the label is renowned for drawing influence everywhere from North Africa to the West Indies, manipulating and twisting traditional sounds into their own unique fusion. A truly unique and intriguing DJ, T.Williams’ star is only set to rise as he continues to ride the line between past and future, swerving the restraints that come with genre limitation.
Starting as we mean to go on with Zabiela and T. Williams, we've got plenty more to come in 2012, expect some very special guests in only the best venues. Come find us on Facebook to stay in the loop.
