Ketoloco Polar Party
Friday 3rd February
Basing House, London
SASSE (15 Years Of Moodmusic Records)
MARIO BASANOV (Needwant Records)
We've been really quiet in London since last summers Light Bar shindigs so we thought we'd throw a party. Seen as it's mid-winter and freezing at the moment it's fitting we launch our annual 'Polar Party'. It's basically an excuse to rave in your favourite ski wear, silly hats, penguin costumes....Whatever! We'll also be bringing in a snow machine for extra effect.
Funktion One Sound
Dress code: ski wear, silly hats, penguin costumes...
- £5 Early Bird Tickets (limited to 50)
- £8 Genreral Admission
Ketoloco decided to return to its native Leeds to celebrate 5 years in existence, and for that reason have been rather quiet in the capital since last summer's terrace parties. Now, though, they return; return to Basing House for a Polar Party with Moodmusic boss Sasse, rising talent Mario Basanov and of course the 'Loco DJs all playing.
The idea is to get everyone together in their winter gear; ski jackets, crazy hats, penguin costumes - whatever takes your fancy and whatever will best suit the fact on the night there will be fake snow machines blasting from all directions. The venue itself is a suitably raw and personal space kitted out with full Funktion One sound and coming over as a nice modern antecedent to the early days of cellar partying with which this crew made their name.
Headliner, Ketoloco favourite and Moodmusic boss Sasse likes to go deep. His label celebrates 15 years in 2012 - 15 years of fresh house, disco tinged tech and various other styles of 4/4 as produced by close associates like Henrik Schwarz and Nick Chacona - expect melody and plenty of groove and you'll not be left wanting.
Meanwhile, says Ketoloco main man Chris Halliday of next booking, Needwant man and Lithuanian producer Mario Basanov… "He's the most exciting producer I've heard in a while. He's taken the crap, disco-tinged, obvious sound and made it better. Very strong productions, very musical - acid stuff, atmospheric stuff, electro influences, diverse."
All in all, then, this party's set to be cooler than a cool thing on vacation at an Icelandic nudist colony.
