To even begin to describe his place in music, it must be noted that Anthony 'Shake' Shakir is one of the producers who invented techno. He began making music in 1981 in his home town of Detroit, working alongside luminaries such as Juan Atkins, Octave One, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig and Mike Banks. His genre bending and genre jumping style has seen him release tracks on some of the most revered labels in techno, electro and house including Metroplex, Tresor, Peacefrog, International Deejay Gigolos as well as his own Frictional and Puzzlebox imprints.
2010 saw Shake thrust back into the spotlight when Rush Hour reissued a retrospective compilation of his work. Encompassing everything from moroder-esque analogue jams, motor city beatdown, fractured techno and soul drenched jit inspired house, it saw him take his rightful place at Detroit techno's top table and cemented him in electronic music history as a true pioneer and innovator.
