Danuel Tate is far from your average House music producer. This musician, composer and keyboardist’s
routes stem deeper than most. Growing up in Victoria, BC, immersed in Jazz and training as a pianist as a
child, Danuel travelled extensively around Canada and America in his early years, spreading his modern
Jazz sound. Eventually landing back in Canada he began collaborating with long term friend and DJ Tyga
Dhula. Around this time Tyga and Danuel hooked up with Mathew Jonson and Colin De La Plante, aka
The Mole, quickly falling into the lure of electronic music, they began working together as Modern Deep
Left Quartet. Shortly after, Cobblestone Jazz was born from the minds of Danuel, Mathew and Tyga and
he is now best known for being their keyboard player as well as his solo work.
Cobblestone Jazz has since gone on to tour globally, with a solid set of releases under their belt. A
different take on dance music, their productions and live performances are a fascinating concoction of
individual specialty, put together in a melting pot to create an innovative sound experience. Tate is also a
solo producer, with 2 EP’s on Canadian label Wagon Repair. His Pushcard and Doesnt Like You Back
EP’s, of which both received huge recognition for their unique modern Jazz infused dance style.
Danuel’s musical background is massively evident in his sound, throwing us between swinging Jazz clubs
and out again into the up-beat vibe of today’s Electronic and Deep House music. An intensely crafted
relationship between the two is the result and sits almost as a genre of its own. Classic swooning Jazz and
Funk with urgent up-tempo house beats create a deep groove in his style. Fascinated by anything that
pushes the boundaries of classic Jazz music, Danuel uses Rhodes, Organ and traditional keys to make funk
based synth driven rhythms. Inspired by some of the greatest Jazz musicians out there and equally by a
collective of electronic DJ’s and producers who Danuel collaborates with, his talent lies successfully in the
middle of classic and modern, taking us on a journey through his progression as a musician.
Danuel’s first full solo album ‘Mexican Hotbox’ out on Wagon Repair, projects with Modern Deep Left
Quartet and a full Cobblestone Jazz studio and performance schedule are his current focus. Danuel Tate
fuses sounds in extreme measure, for the mind and equally for the dance floor. Experimenting through solo
work, collaboration and live performance... luckily for us, he’s pretty damn good at it.
$ 7 before midnight (with guest list) $10 after midnight .
