For our first party of 2012 we are very proud to present a label showcase
from two of our favourite record labels.
Frozen Border and Horizontal Ground both hold a special place in our hearts due to our very own AnD being part of the collective, and also due to the ethos of the labels aesthetic and sound. Frozen Border and Horizontal ground have been shrouded in anonymity since there first releases in 2009, with white label hand stamped releases with alpha numeric codes as information . The music has always been the focus of the label rather than the artist, something that a lot of other labels seem to have forgotten.
First up we have Dj Skirt with her own unique style of dark techno. Skirt first appeared on Horizontal Ground last year with the excellent In the Meadows Under the Stars ep, showcasing her love for techno, new wave and noise. Her production is the perfect blend of sound design with dancefloor sensibility. She has also just remixed Sverca for the next Semantica release alongside long time heroes Regis, Silent Servant and Orphx. Watch this space.
AnD first appeared on Horizontal Ground back in 2010, and since then have went onto have two releases on the label with a further two coming this year. Their productions focus on stripped back techno grooves moving between dubbier and more industrial sound scapes and textures. AnD will be providing us with a dj set this time round after their impressive live set back in December!
Next up we have another duo in Szare, these guys will be playing live for us showcasing their own twisted perception of house and techno. These guys first appeared on Horizontal Ground back in 2009, with three releases so far they have shown a depth to their sound that draws inspiration from Turkish and Asian music as much as it does house or techno. Expect something a bit different from these two.
Providing the warm up for us will be Setaoc Mass a young player on the Manchester scene pushing his dubbier techno sound. Currently signed to Toffler Music and Diacope Records he has been working away behind the scenes with more releases planned for this year through the excellent Archetypes Records. Were sure he will be one to watch for the future.
We look forward to seeing you all there
