100% live dance music on show as the 2011 winners of the Playground Unsigned competition, Double Drop, showcase their D&B sounds as they celebrate their debut EP release with a launch party. Live support from GGB.
Synchronising the euphoria of dance music and the intimacy of Drum'n'Bass, whilst simultaneously journeying across the landscape of Hip-Hop, Dubstep and Jazz - Double Drop are on a mission to produce an electric plethora of musical exuberance.
Featuring an equally eclectic line-up of musicians from around Europe, each member of Double Drop brings their own sound to the studio and to the stage, making them individually inspiring but collectively encapsulating.
It's at their live shows where Double Drop have really developed a reputation as an exhilaratingly fresh dance music act. They are a band committed in creating a live experience that cannot be replicated. A unique, organic experience every single time. Live instruments and modern music technology intertwine harmoniously to create seamlessness between tracks. You don't just hear when the music drops or the momentum shifts, you feel it.
To date, Double Drop have performed at notorious London venues Brixton Jamm, Proud Galleries and Cargo and dropped a set at the Lovebox festival. The band also won the Playground Unsigned competition in 2011 and found time to support Submotion Orchestra on part of their UK tour.
January 2012 will host Double Drop's next audible injection in the form of their first EP release. The EP is designed to give listeners a sizeable fix of exactly what Double Drop are capable of.
Support comes from North London 6 piece, GGB. Having opened the The Green Man Festival in August 2011 and recently played Mine (Leeds), and London's Cargo , it is set to be a big year for the band. They are currently recording the Homegrown EP (out January 2012) and the GGB LP, as well as playing many live shows at a venue near you! The 'Grass Is Greener EP,' their first was released in early 2010 and is available from www.ggblondon.com for free along with acoustic recordings up on their newly launched 'GGBLondon' youtube channel.
