One Night Stand is back for 2012 and we've called up some of our Picnic champs to break in the warehouse for the start of another awesome year. Marcus King, Tamas Jones (Hey Convict!), Kali and Andy Webb will be guiding dancers on a path to disco glory all night long.
MARCUS KING was born with a moustache. He's one of our favourite groovers, always with a record bag full of bombs and a front pocket full of rainbows. Having travelled the world and toured the most legit record stores along the way, his unique selections are always a pure delight to dance to. Always, ALWAYS an amazingly fun time to be had. What a dude.
TAMAS JONES was born with a beard - we definitely have a type. He's got a comically large and impossibly good record collection filled with gorgeous 60s/70s psych, classic funk, Balearic gems, rad acid house, 31 flavours of disco and all sorts of obscure and exciting goodness. He's been on Beats in Space TWICE. Yep. When Tamas is on the decks you're guaranteed an astounding aural experience.
KALI's contribution to the Sydney dance scene can't be overlooked. Neither can her superb DJing. Super funky and extraordinarily diverse, you know no matter what time of day or night, what club or bar or house or cafe or hot air balloon, you'll be forced to dance and smile. She's DJed with a load of great people, toured even more, put on parties for the best...but we don't need to go on - as the woman behind our fair Picnic, her taste are pretty clear!!
ANDY WEBB has many fingers in many pies, because music is cool and that's what he aspires to be one day. The records he's put out on his label Death Strobe Records and disco edits imprint Disco Delicious (from the blog of the same name) have been spun by people like DJ Harvey, Erol Alkan and Psychemagik which is probably pretty cool.
And that, dear friends, is one magnificent party. The theme for this one is Black Magick so don your darkest witch, wizard or goblin getup and let's get ritualistic. As always it's BYO so make sure you bring all your frosties with you. Tickets are available on RA for $20 (more on the door) and the address will be announced the day before the party. Much love!
