This Saturday we welcome the young Portsmouth based producer and breaking DJ Jordan Peak onto the Junk decks.
Jordan’s focus on low slung house music full of swing and swagger has come as a breath of fresh air to those tired of the minimal explosion of 2 years ago and his hard work and attention to detail on his quality productions has put his name as one to look out for in house music.
Jordan has a knack for creating raw analogue charm and already encompasses a growing spectrum of sounds. Currently in the midst of a speedy ascent through the production ranks, his output already includes an intriguing set of releases, for a UK act, on labels such as Robsoul, Raum...Musik, Saved and Tsuba.
Last year saw further releases on these labels, as well as new material on Hudd Traxx’ sister label Smoke City, and an EP on Adam Shelton and Subb-an’s exciting new One Records imprint, which is part of an intriguing new wave of UK labels. This new charge is spearheaded by the likes of Jordan and fellow Brits like Robert James – who was together named with Jordan on Radio 1’s ‘Introducing’ section of the Essential Selection as being the names to watch in 2011 by Pete Tong.
Meanwhile gigs all over the country including a debut at Fabric and a number of excursions to Ibiza taking to the decks at Zoo Project and Kehakuma (Space) added to his already busy gig schedule. December last year saw Jordan nominated as ‘Best Newcomer DJ’ at the DJ Mag Best Of British awards where he narrowly came a close runner up to worthy winner Subb-an.
Already in 2012 Jordan has had two successful releases on Robsoul and another on One Records both storming the house charts again plus a string of dates confirmed including a debut at Miami’s infamous Electric Pickle club at the WMC
2012 sees Jordan continuing on the rise – we can’t wait to see what’s next.
