Line-up / Yousef (UK) 3hr set, Chardy, Sunshine, Darius, Dean K, Tom Chard, Generik, China
Noted as one of the UK’s top DJ’s and producers, Yousef began his DJ quest in 1991. Yousef lives and breathes house music! Influenced greatly by Derrick Carter, Sneak, Onionz and Laurent Garnier, Yousef is well known for his slick, sleazy, jackin’ beats, edged with an aggressive and relentless groove. He has DJ’d all over the world, in places such as Miami, Australia, New York, LA, Sao Paulo, Rio, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Paris, Madrid, Stockholm, Ibiza, Zurich, Jakarta, Africa, Ireland, most major clubs in every country in Europe and every major UK city.
On the production front, Yousef’s own recent remixes include Fatboy Slims “the joker”, School’s ‘If’ (Virgin), Tim Deluxe’s “Less talk more action” (Underwater), Boris D’Lugosh “Keep Pushing” (Peppermint Jam), Moloko’s “Cannot Contain This”, Phil Weeks “Candela” and Danny S “Talking Dirty.” His productions have gained full support from the likes of Pete Tong, Roger Sanchez, Satoshi Tommie, Erick Morillo and Tim Deluxe. Yousef has also collaborated with a variety of artists such as Steve Mac (Rhythm Mastrers) and Paul Woolford (10,000BC).
Yousef’s record label ‘Carioca’ has established itself as a hot house label. It’s releases include tracks from Blakkat and Tyra and Yousef himself and under his Harry Monroe guise.
Yousef sites his biggest accomplishments (after his Cream residency had finished) as keeping house music alive in his home city by making Circus (in UK) an essential night out in Liverpool. Other achievements include a ‘Radio 1’ residency, winning the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ award at 2001’s Muzik Awards, mixing DMC’s 2002 compilation and writing a monthly column for Muzik, which he did so for two years. As well as appearing on the front cover on both IDJ magazine and Seven magazine.
In 2007 be on the lookout for the new Circus Sessions for Ministry of Sound mixed by Yousef.
